- WELLS, Thorold Woodbury - Former Deputy Mayor Hantsport Dies At 66 - WINDSOR - One of Hantsport’s prominent citizens Thorold Woodbury Wells died at the Payzant Memorial Hospital Monday. Mr. Wells was born at Port Elgin, N. B., the son of the late Wm. W. and Ella (Turner) Wells and was 66. He attended Mount Allison University and thirty years ago came to Liverpool where he had a general store. While at Liverpool he was a charter member and the first president of the Kiwanis Club. Nineteen years ago he moved to Hantsport where he became manager of the lumber department of the Minas Pulp and Paper Co. He served on the town council and was deputy mayor. He was chairman of the Hantsport school board, served as a board member on the Hants county branch of the Children’s Aid Society and on the V. O. N. He was a member of the Edward Lodge, IOOF, Rotary Club and was appointed vice president a year ago. The remains will rest at the Lohnes and Botten Funeral Home, Windsor until noon on Thursday. The funeral will be held from St. James United Church, Hantsport at 2:30, Thursday afternoon, Rev. Neil MacLeod officiating. Interment at Riverbank cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the crippled children’s fund of the Rotary Club, Windsor, will be appreciated by the family.
