    WEAGLE, Jean Gertrude
    July 3, 1917 - June 1, 2013. Jean passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 1, in Windsor Elms Vil­lage, Falmouth, at the age of 95. Born in Port Williams, she was a daughter of the late Emerson and Iona (Barron) Hutchinson. She was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth Weagle; brother, Ralph Hutchinson; sisters, Frances Wellwood, Mildred Lutwick, Dorothy Reese and Margaret Rose Hutchinson; and brothers-in-law, Lawrence Lutwick, Theodore Miller and Arnold Wellwood. Jean will be fondly remem­bered as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Family was very impor­tant to her and she was always willing to lend a helping hand. She was a faith­ful member of Hantsport Baptist Church and was a former member of Kings Daughters. She enjoyed garden­ing, knitting and reading, but her fondest time was spent with family and friends at her summer cottage. For a short time she worked at Austin Simp­son Jewellery Store.

    HUTCHINSON, Frank Avon
    Formerly of Port Williams, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2013, at the age of 91 years. He was a resident of Ever­green Home for Special Care in Kentville. Born May 24, 1922 in Avonport, he was a son of the late Emmerson and Iona (Barron) Hutchinson. Frank served with the 14th Field Regiment, Royal Cana­dian Artillery during the Second World War, landed on Juno Beach and served the remainder of the war in France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. Upon coming home, Frank was never idle, utilizing his people skills with Slacks Electric in Hantsport and as a carpenter with various companies including work­ing alongside his youngest brother, Richard. While not working, Frank and his wife spent countless hours tending their bountiful gardens sur­rounding their home and enjoying time at the cottage on Sunken Lake. In addition, Frank was an active member of Port Williams United Baptist Church and Royal Canadian Legion, Wolfville. Besides his parents, Frank was predeceased by sisters, Margaret Rose (two years), Mildred Lutwick, Frances Well­wood, Dorothy Reese, Jean Weagle; brother, Ralph. He will also be re­membered by many nieces, neph­ews, friends and comrades-in-arms, Dr. C. B. Lumsden. Branch No. 74 Royal Canadian Legion Wolfville, will hold a service at 7 p.m. followed by visitation until 9 p.m. Thursday, October 10, both from Annapolis Valley Funeral Home and Crema­tion Centre, Coldbrook.

    WELLWOOD, Frances Ethel - Passed away December 23, 2009, at the age of 91. She was the wife of the late Arnold Wellwood. They celebrated their 65th anniversary before his passing in 2007. Born in Lockhartville to Iona and Emerson Hutchinson, she was a dear sister to Jean Weagle, Frank (Madeleine) Hutchinson, Mildred Lutwick, Dot (Chester) Reese, Madge (Vernon) Davison, Joan Miller, Carol (Jim) Legge, Richard (Mary) Hutchinson. Predeceased by Margaret Rose and Ralph (Isabel) Hutchinson. After marrying Arnie in 1942, they moved to Ste. Anne de Bellevue, Que., where she put her business college skills to use at the Bank of Montreal and at Macdonald College, McGill University. Other moves took them to Guelph, Ont., Nigeria, Connecticut and Kitchener, Ont. Upon retirement, they returned to their roots in Nova Scotia, settling in Kentville. Fran loved summers at their Evangeline Beach cottage in Grand Pré and enjoyed many winters in Largo, Fla. Five years ago, they moved to Winston Park Retirement Home in Kitchener. Family was very important to Fran. She took much delight in holiday gatherings and family reunions. She was very proud of the academic accomplishments of her children and grandchildren. Her love of travel took her across Canada, through most of the United States, to Europe and the Caribbean. She was an expert seamstress and gourmet cook, and enjoyed square dancing and playing bridge. Fran will be remembered for her ready smile and kind words to others. A memorial service will happen at a later date at Winston Park. Interment of ashes will take place in Nova Scotia in the summer.
