Laurie was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion for 34 years, an IOOF Lodge member, a former Scout Master, and a member of the Hantsport School Board. He worked at Minas Basin Pulp and Pow­er Co. for 41 years, and was an avid gardener, fisherman and hunter in his spare time. Besides his parents, Laurie was pre­deceased by brother, George and sis­ter, Rowena MacQuarrie.
