    It is with profound sadness that the family of Burton Charles Eldridge announces that Burt left us June 27, 2021 a few days before his 85th birthday at Lionsgate hospital in North Vancouver, BC.

    Burt was born in Ohio, Nova Scotia July 1, 1936 and was the only son of Charles Tooker and Eva Pauline Pulsifer Eldridge. His mother Pauline died from cancer when he was seven years old. His father subsequently married Annis Madeline Madden.

    Burt grew up in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, fishing and lobstering on the East Coast. His hobbies also included hunting, stamp collecting, and watching sports. Burt's first full time job was as a teller at the Royal Bank. Burt enjoyed banking but decided he wanted to become a pilot. He was traveling on a train to attend flight school with the Canadian Armed Forces when he received word that his father had died. He returned to Yarmouth and subsequently resumed his interest in finance/accounting by leaving for New Brunswick to acquire a Bachelor of Commerce from Mount Allison University in Sackville. He then completed his Chartered Accountant Designation at McGill University and articled with the CA firm Riddlestead Graham and Hutchison in Montreal, the city where he met his future wife, Margaret.

    Margaret and Burt married on July 11, 1964, and moved to Edmonton, Alberta to settle and raise their two children. Burt worked at Consumer and Corporate Affairs with the Federal government and then the Alberta Government. Burt was a chief investigative auditor testifying in the Code Inquiry into the Principal Group Ltd.. He testified in court for many days regarding his work uncovering and alerting officials to neglect and mismanagement. Burt retired from the Alberta Government and for a few years taught Accounting at the nearby Hobbema Reserve.

    In 1998, Burt’s cross Canada tour finished on the west coast, in Vancouver where he worked for the Real Estate Council of BC as a PST Auditor until his declining health made it necessary for him to retire permanently. Burt enjoyed his work as a CA and had always taken on private clients to provide professional assistance and advice. In his retirement, Burt enjoyed gardening, building things and spending time with his grandchildren.

    In his last years, Burt suffered from a degenerative neurological condition that greatly affected his mobility. He put up a heroic fight for more than a year following a fall at home June 9, 2020 that left him with a fractured neck and a bilateral brain bleed. He was in hospital from June 9th, 2020 to March 10, 2021 when he was discharged and admitted to Evergreen House Care Home where he, due to their inadequate care, began to rapidly decline physically and cognitively.

    Burt believed in the value of hard work and living a productive life. He applied his financial skills to his personal life, avoiding waste and discovering efficient solutions to any challenge he faced. Burt would have still been working had his declining health not become so serious.

    Burt’s passion was his family. He loved us all deeply. He was a kind and gentle man and was always available for us when we needed him. He will be greatly missed by us all forever.

    DAVISON, Donald Perry \'Duck\' — 88, of Hantsport, Hants Co., passed away peacefully on Monday, Decem­ber 19, 2011, in Camp Hill Veterans’ Memorial Building, QEII, Halifax. Born in Hantsport on November 18, 1923, he was a son of the late Albert and Marion (Pulsifer) Davison. He at­tended elementary and junior high school in Hantsport and completed his school education in Yarmouth while residing with his aunt and uncle, Char­les and Pauline Eldridge. Upon com­pletion of high school he joined the Armed Forces (Army) and was in the Signal Corp attached to the 5th Divi­sion. During the Second World War he served in England, Italy and Continen­tal Europe. Duck received the Merito­rious Service Medal for outstanding devotion to the aims and objects of the Royal Canadian Legion and a certifi­cate of appreciation as he was a test subject for chemical warfare labora­tories in Ottawa. After the war, he re­turned to Hantsport and was employ­ed for 20 years as Electrical Superin­tendent at Minas Basin Pulp and Pow­er. He then transferred to Canadian Keyes Fibre where he was the plant electrician for 23 years until ill health forced him to retire. He was an active member of Hantsport Baptist Church, serving as deacon, building commit­tee, trustee, and on many other com­mittees. He was also active in many community organizations: Hantsport Historical Society, 25 plus year mem­ber of Edwards Lodge (Past Noble Grand, Treasurer), Belvedere En­campment No. 5, Windsor, Royal Cana­dian Legion Lucknow Branch No. 109 (Past President, Treasurer, Charter member of the Building Committee, Benevolent Fund). He was also a mem­ber of the Hantsport Elders and Minas Waves. He was the last member of the original Legion Sports Committee which organized the Richard Beazley Memorial 6-Mile Race. Duck was prede­ceased by sister, Margaret Cunning­ham; brother, Laurie \'Buss\'. His love of all children was evident in the many little things he made for them. He was a friend and willing helper to every­one with whom he came in contact and his family and many friends will sadly miss him.

    Starratt (Harvie), Charlotte Lovell Edith – 87 of Lower Sackville, it is with sad hearts we announce Charlotte’s peaceful passing on May 24, 2022, after suffering a massive stroke. Joyful for her gain but saddened by her passing, Charlotte will be truly missed by the family and friends she has left behind. Born in Digby NS on September 6, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Edith (Winchester) Harvie.

    Charlotte had a long and satisfying career in the Halifax Pathology Laboratory, during which time she also studied and completed her degree at Dalhousie University. She was a long-time member of Bedford Baptist Church and had the privilege of being baptized in the Bedford Basin along with her dad in 1967. Charlotte had a heart to serve others; she gave generously, offered warm hospitality, was always ready with advice, and brightened the room with her presence. Charlotte also had a deep love for cats (Casper was known to many) and dogs, as evidenced by several rescues over the years.

    There will be no public service or visitation upon family request, and a private family internment will be held at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Lower Sackville at a later date.

    Donations in memory of Charlotte may be made to the Bedford Baptist Church, the Nova Scotia SPCA or a charity of choice.

    Passed away Thursday, May 7, 2015, at home, surrounded by family. Born on June 17, 1954, in Wolfville Hospital, she was the daughter of the late Victor and Blanche (Jodrey) Folker. She was a graduate of Victoria General Hospital School of Nursing (Class of 1974) and spent over 40 years as a dedicated Registered Nurse in Valley Regional Hospital. She was a member of Avonport Baptist Church. Vicki enjoyed playing bridge and was a member of the Ken-Wo Bridge Club. She loved to camp, travel and surround herself with family and friends, but above all she enjoyed helping others around her. She was a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother.
