RAMEY, Ruth Elizabeth — In her 87th year passed away peacefully on June 1,2012,in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII, with Jennifer and Kim by her side. Born in Hantsport, she was a daughter of the late Lewis and Helen (Clarke) Coldwell. She completed a business course and worked at Minas Basin Pulp and Paper Co. Supporting her husband’s career, they lived in Winnipeg, Man., Sydney, St. John’s, N.L. and Dartmouth. She was an avid bridge, scrabble, and crib player. Many hours were spent reading, knit­ting, needlepoint,tatting and crochet­ing. She was a member of Emanuel Church for 40 years, and St.Andrew’s Anglican Church for five years. In ad­dition, she was a member of the Fair­field IODE Dartmouth for 50 years, Head Start 10 years, and Stairs Memo­rial Food Bank 10 years. Over the years she made many long-lasting friendships through her numerous bridge clubs, church, charity work, especially on Laurier Street. Last Au­gust she left her home of 49 years and moved into a retirement home. She was predeceased by her hus­band, Earle and son, Peter.

Ruth married Earle Verdun Ramey on 29 Aug 1945 in Hantsport, Hants, Nova Scotia. Earle (son of Frank Ramey and Emma Haines) was born about 1917 in Bridgewater, Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
