DAVISON, Donald Perry \'Duck\' — 88, of Hantsport, Hants Co., passed away peacefully on Monday, December 19, 2011, in Camp Hill Veterans’ Memorial Building, QEII, Halifax. Born in Hantsport on November 18, 1923, he was a son of the late Albert and Marion (Pulsifer) Davison. He attended elementary and junior high school in Hantsport and completed his school education in Yarmouth while residing with his aunt and uncle, Charles and Pauline Eldridge. Upon completion of high school he joined the Armed Forces (Army) and was in the Signal Corp attached to the 5th Division. During the Second World War he served in England, Italy and Continental Europe. Duck received the Meritorious Service Medal for outstanding devotion to the aims and objects of the Royal Canadian Legion and a certificate of appreciation as he was a test subject for chemical warfare laboratories in Ottawa. After the war, he returned to Hantsport and was employed for 20 years as Electrical Superintendent at Minas Basin Pulp and Power. He then transferred to Canadian Keyes Fibre where he was the plant electrician for 23 years until ill health forced him to retire. He was an active member of Hantsport Baptist Church, serving as deacon, building committee, trustee, and on many other committees. He was also active in many community organizations: Hantsport Historical Society, 25 plus year member of Edwards Lodge (Past Noble Grand, Treasurer), Belvedere Encampment No. 5, Windsor, Royal Canadian Legion Lucknow Branch No. 109 (Past President, Treasurer, Charter member of the Building Committee, Benevolent Fund). He was also a member of the Hantsport Elders and Minas Waves. He was the last member of the original Legion Sports Committee which organized the Richard Beazley Memorial 6-Mile Race. Duck was predeceased by sister, Margaret Cunningham; brother, Laurie \'Buss\'. His love of all children was evident in the many little things he made for them. He was a friend and willing helper to everyone with whom he came in contact and his family and many friends will sadly miss him.
