    McDADE, Gerald Oliver

    Age 92, Central Onslow, passed away on August 13, 2019 in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Parrsboro, April 7, 1927, he was a son of the late E. Cranswick and Grace (Getson) McDade. Beside his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Janice; and brothers, Doug, Gene, Garnet, Bill, Bruce and Eric. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Growing up in Parrsboro, he worked at a variety of jobs including in the family business, McDade Lumber. It was during this time that he met and married Eudora. They raised their family in Lower Sackville and Gerald worked in the automotive field and in later years, for Canada Post. He worked part-time in the pari-mutuels at Sackville Downs Raceway and eventually owned racehorses himself. In retirement, he and Eudora moved to Tidal Bore Road in Central Onslow where Gerald loved to work in his yard and look after his horses. A Graveside Service will be held at a later date in Lower Onslow Clarke Cemetery.
