    NEWCOMBE, Richard Bruce "Dick" - 72, Curry's Corner, Hants Co., passed away on Sunday, August 20, 2006, in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor, after a brief battle with cancer. Born on February 11, 1934, in Windsor, Hants Co., he was a son of the late George and Anna (Waite) Newcombe. Dick was a member of the Royal Canadian Air Force for several years, worked for over 40 years for US Gypsum as an engineer on the gypsum boats out of Hantsport and ended his career as Chief Engineer of the Gypsum company's tugboats "Otis Wack" and the "Spanish Mist" out of Hantsport. He was an avid sportsman during his youth and continued to play fastball into his 40s. Dick was a 36 year member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Hants County Branch No. 009. He appeared as an extra in the 1962 motion picture "Mutiny On The Bounty" which was filmed in Tahiti and his picture was featured in an article in National Geographic on the filming of the movie. In retirement, Dick enjoyed watching his Montreal Canadiens and Toronto Blue Jays, and playing cribbage on Monday night at the Windsor Legion. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, the former Glenna Haley. He was predeceased by brother, George. Interment will be in Maplewood Cemetery, Windsor.
