ALLEN (Sypher, Winchester), Yvonne Inez — 89, of Yarmouth, passed away suddenly on May 18, 2012, in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born in the picturesque village of Sandy Cove, Digby Co., she was a daughter of the late Scott and Inez (Manzer) Sypher. Yvonne’s greatest joy was her family and home, followed by dedication and faithfulness to Zion United Baptist Church, where she served in many capacities for over 50 years. She was a 40-year member of Opal Rebekah Lodge No. 45, having served as Chaplain, Post Noble Grand and past District Deputy President. Yvonne was involved for many years with the Canadian Cancer Society, serving as President for five of those years. She also enjoyed reading, gar­dening, travelling, playing bridge and visiting with the elderly. She was predeceased by first husband, Carl F. Winchester; second husband, Merle B. Allen; brothers, Eric and Morley Sypher. Funeral arrange­ments have been entrusted to Swee­ny’s Funeral Home & Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, May 22 from 1 p.m. until funeral service begins at 2 p.m. in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Brian Wallace officiating. Inter­ment will follow in Chebogue Cemete­ry.
