    Died:
Bernard “Bunny” Coolen passed away suddenly at Victoria General Hospital, Victoria, British Columbia on September 17, 2006 at the age of 86 years.

Born in Fox Point, Nova Scotia, Bunny served with the Royal Canadian Engineers overseas for five years during World War II as a heavy equipment operator which he turned into his first career, post WWII, building highways, clearing orchards and digging many building foundations. Following a career as a high-pressure welder, he spent many years as a boilermaker with HMC Dockyard in Halifax.

In 1988, after retirement, Bunny and his wife Kate relocated to the Comox Valley, British Columbia where he enjoyed gardening and visiting with friends and family. Bunny was a member of the d’Esterre House and a 60-year member of the Royal Canadian Legion.
