    • We are sad to announce that Richard, age 86, passed away at Halifax Infirmary, QEII on Monday, May 18, 2020. Born in Windsor, on July 4, 1933, he was a son of the late Frederick and Mary (Harvie) Smith.

      Besides his parents, Richard was predeceased by his siblings Marie Whiston, Shirley Cornies, Leota Davison, Palmer Smith and Kenneth Smith.

      Richard was employed by the Minas Basin Pulp & Power in Hantsport for 36 years before retiring. For many years, Richard was involved as song leader at Glad Tidings and Dykeland Lodge in Windsor. For the past 20 years, Richard was a faithful adherent of Hantsport Baptist Church. He loved to play his guitar and sing gospel music both in his church and at local jams.

      Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a private family interment will take place in Riverbank Cemetery, Hantsport, Rev. Jennifer Riley officiating. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
