    • GERTRIDGE, Celia Curzon - Halifax, passed away February 9, 2007, in Northwood Centre. Born in Halifax, she was the daughter of the late Reginald P. Helsby (Liverpool, England) and Julia Shaw (Hantsport). She graduated from the Halifax Academy. She was a member of the Halifax Gyrette Club and the Halifax Y-Manettes Club. Celia was an active volunteer worker on behalf of the Grace Maternity Hospital, Canadian Red Cross Association, the Halifax Music Festival, I.O.D.E. and also an active worker on behalf of the First Baptist Church, Halifax. She was the last surviving member of her immediate Helsby family. She was predeceased by husband, Larry (July 14, 1981). Visitation will be held Monday, March 12, from 1-2 p.m., when the funeral service will be held, both in J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor St. Burial in Camphill Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff of 9 Centre at Northwood for their care and compassion for our mother and family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Red Cross Society, Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia, Northwood Foundation or First Baptist Church, Halifax.
