- Mary Edna Schurman - 89, Mount Denson, Hants Co., passed away Sunday, March 2, 2008, in Dykeland Lodge, Windsor. She was born on May 9, 1918, in New Ross, Lunenburg Co., and was a daughter of the late Emerson and Winnifred (Meister) Redden. She was the wife of the late Amos Schurman and continued to live on the Century Farm and raised her family after his early death.
In later years she enjoyed her employment at the Haliburton Museum. She joined the United Church of Canada in Mount Denson and in later years attended St. James United Church in Hantsport. She was a member of the church choir and greatly enjoyed singing and the social activities of the church. She was a member of the Windsor Legion and enjoyed activities there. She loved her large family, painting, dancing, bowling and her many friends.
She was predeceased by her husband, Amos; son, Jeffrey Lee; daughter, Fae McLaren; grandson, Fred McLaren; brothers, Clyde Chesley and Basil; sisters, Rita Bowman, Hazel Lake and Gladys Hunt.
The family wishes to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to the staff at Dykeland Lodge, Wallace Place, for their care and kindness extended to their mother during her stay.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Lohnes Funeral Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317), where the family will receive visitors from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, March 5. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, March 6, in St. James United Church, 17 Prince St., Hantsport, Rev. Glennis Smith officiating. Interment will be held in Mount Denson Cemetery. A reception will be held in St. James United Church Hall. Family flowers only, please.
