- Marie Harriett MacFarlane passed away on January 16 2026. Born August 28th 1937, she was the daughter of the late Reid Thompson and Pearl (Pemberton) Thompson.
Most important to Marie were her family, extended family and all of her friends .She felt so blessed to have the love, friendship and support of so many in her life.
Besides her parents, Marie was predeceased by her beloved husband Ron, brothers David and Gary Thompson, sisters-in-law Betty Curley, Jessie Lund and Wilburta Haslam. She was also predeceased by her special friend George Comstock with whom she shared many adventures and left her with the gifts of love and friendship from his daughters and their families.
Mom spent her life looking after everyone. If you were one of her people and were sick or on vacation there would always be soup and biscuits or a casserole left in the fridge or delivered to the door. She was an incredibly kind person and it was shown in her last months. Thanks to the family and friends who took time to visit Mom in hospital, bring good meals and give her company. Her days were filled with love and that will never be forgotten.
Thanks also to the staff at Hants Community Hospital for their care of Marie over the last few months. Thanks also to East Coast Memorial for their care and understanding.
If desired, donations may be made to a charity of choice or to Hantsport & Area Food Bank (P.O.Box 728), Hantsport Historical Society (P.O.Box 525) or Hantsport Memorial Community Center. Mom loved the town of Hantsport.
A graveside service for family and close friends will be held at a later date.
