- With great sadness, the family announces the passing of Mary Maud Cashin (McNeil) of Fredericton, NB at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Predeceased by her loving husband of 54 years, Michael James Cashin, and her parents Malcolm and Lela McNeil.
Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sister, Anna Poirier and brothers, John and Michael McNeil.
Mary was born in Hantsport, NS and graduated from Mount St. Bernard College in Antigonish, NS and worked for the Department of National Defense for over 25 years until her retirement in 1993.
Mary's life focused on her family and she was immensely proud of her grandchildren and always present at their many sports events and activities.
Mary was an active member of St. Dunstan's Parish Church. She enjoyed swimming, badminton, tennis, camping, cross country skiing and family gatherings around the pool in the summers.
A kind and loving person, Mary will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, September 26 at 12:05 PM at St. Dunstan's Parish Church, 130 Regent Street with Father Bill Brennan officiating. Interment to follow at Hermitage Cemetery, Fredericton, NB.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Children's Wish Foundation or a charity of the donor's choice.
