- Gloria Marie (Rogers) (Kenny) Veino – 87, of Avonport, passed away in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor on Saturday, October 18, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Wolfville, she was a daughter of the late Harry L. Rogers Sr. and Helen (Sweet) Rogers. Gloria dedicated over 20 years of her life to serving as a registered nurse at Hants Community Hospital in Windsor, where she worked with compassion and professionalism until her retirement. Her commitment to caring for others extended beyond her career when she volunteered at the Windsor hospital for several years after her retirement. Gloria was involved with several local groups, including the Meadowview Dart Divas, Thursday’s Dominos group, and the monthly Rummoli group. She also enjoyed attending the West Brooklyn Hall Welcome Wednesdays. In her earlier years she was a regular participant in the Wednesday night Ladies League at Fairlanes bowling alley in New Minas. Gloria was never one to sit idle and was a prolific knitter and quilter and also found joy in square dancing. She was an avid cribbage player, skunking many over the years. In recent years her cottage at Aylesford Lake became known as "Great Nannie’s Ice Cream Shop" as she treated any who were interested in an ice cream cone, especially her grand and great-grandchildren and their friends.In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Ronald Kenny; second husband, Gilbert Veino; and brothers, Harry Rogers Jr. and Donald, in infancy. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation by request. The funeral service (with livestream available) will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 24 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville with a reception to follow. Private interment will take place in Riverbank Cemetery, Hantsport.
