- David Edward Stevens
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of David Edward Stevens of Hantsport Nova Scotia on Jan 7, 2024, at the age of 83. David passed away unexpectedly at home with his daughter and son-in-law at his side in Lumby, BC.
David was born in Hantsport, Nova Scotia on June 10, 1940. He moved to Alberta in his younger adult years, marrying the love of his life, Shirley Sandford, in Calgary, Alberta on April 26, 1974, where they continued to work and live until mom’s retirement in 1995. They then purchased a home in Turner Valley, Alberta until mom’s passing on January 23, 2007.
After mom’s passing, dad finally retired and moved to BC with his daughter and her family. Retirement didn’t come easily for dad, but he always found ways to keep busy around the house as he could always find something he figured needed fixing. He took up golfing in his later years which he quite enjoyed, and loved keeping up with his numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and many honorary grandchildren, who all knew and loved him as their Poppy. He looked forward to his and Charlies’s morning walks to the dog park for a little social outing. He loved his weekly calls to his sisters back in Nova Scotia to reminisce and keep up on social events. He loved spending time outdoors watching the numerous birds and deer that visited his door step daily.
Although we are all grieving and will always miss him dearly, we were all blessed to have had the best father, grandfather, and great grandfather, lovingly known as Poppy, for the many years we did. His legacy will live on in all our hearts and the loving memories will be shared for generations to come.
