- Lois “Pauline” Sanford-Harvey, age 90 of Hantsport, Hants County, passed away on Thursday, October 22, 2020 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born January 26, 1930 in Kempt Shore, Hants County, she was the only child of the late Walter and Lottie (Sanford) Wilcox.
Following her early years and education she married Arthur D. Sanford and resided in Hantsport until her death. She was a loving daughter, wife and mother and a proud active citizen of her home town. Her strong faith and love of God was a highlight of her life.
She was a Life Member of the United Church of Canada. In Avon United Church she served as an Elder, Sunday school teacher, CGIT leader and active member of U.C.W. In her earlier years, she taught school, served a term of office on the Board of School Commissioners, was on the Seniors Housing Commission, the Hospital Auxiliary and Community Centre. Pauline would always lend a hand wherever she was needed.
In the political world, she always enjoyed a friendly argument and chat having served as term secretary of the West Hants Liberal Association. Her hobbies were cake decorating and oil painting and her social activities included dancing and camping. She especially enjoyed going to the Jam Sessions and listening to Country and Blue Grass music.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Arthur “Junior” Sanford.
Funeral service (masks recommended and feel free to bring a chair) will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, October 25, 2020 in the Riverbank Cemetery, Hantsport. Rev. Bill Gibson officiating.
