Born May 23, 1931, he was a son of the late Frank and Estella (Greene) Newcomb. Laurie was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion for 34 years, an IOOF Lodge member, a former Scout Master, and a member of the Hantsport School Board. He worked at Minas Basin Pulp and Power Co. for 41 years, and was an avid gardener, fisherman and hunter in his spare time. Besides his parents, Laurie was predeceased by brother, George and sister, Rowena MacQuarrie.
