- Randall "Randy" Blair Schofield
October 9, 1951 - December 24, 2024
They say grief is the price we pay for love, so there is no doubt why our hearts are heavy as we announce the passing of Randy on December 24, 2024, at the age of 73. He was a devoted husband, loving father, proud Papa, caring brother and cherished friend. Randy passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family, holding his wife, Heather's hand, much the way he lived his life.
Born on October 9, 1951, to Russell and Mabel Schofield, Randy grew up in Lockhartville knowing the importance of family and the value of honesty, respect and hard work. He had a sense of connection and had a profound ability to make everyone he met feel valued and heard. The friends he made during his childhood were those that he kept throughout his entire life.
Randy started working for Carey Brothers as a brick layer for a number of years and went on to join the Department of Transportation as a snow plow operator before retiring as a clerk.
Randy loved and truly enjoyed everything he did in his life. He had a passion for the outdoors and was a hunter and an avid bass fisherman. He also loved playing sports and excelled at hockey, baseball, bowling and essentially anything else he wanted to play. During retirement, Randy spent his summers camping at Fox Mountain with a group of very close friends that enjoyed good music, laughter and stories that will live on. Randy and Heather also enjoyed travelling to various music festivals and making friends everywhere they went.
Above all, Randy's greatest gift was the love and devotion he had for his wife, Heather (nee. Mitton). They spent 55 years together as best friends, holding hands, dancing in the kitchen, and sharing their dreams.
Randy was predeceased by his parents, Russell and Mabel Schofield, father and mother-in-law, Cecil and Sara Mitton, sisters-in-law, Jeannette Vaughan, Eva Moore, Dawn Mitton, Heather Penny-Mitton and brothers-in-law, Peter Skelhorn and Laurice Mitton.
There will be a celebration of life filled with music and stories on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at 2 p.m. at the Hantsport Memorial Community Centre. All are welcomed.
Donations may be made in Randy's memory to the Valley Hospice, Hantsport Memorial Community Centre or a charity of one's choice.
