    • Ernest Fullerton Myles (Ern or Ernie), 87, of Bishopville, passed away peacefully at Valley Hospice with his family by his side on Tuesday, March 10th. Ern was the son of the late Nathan and Dorothy Myles of Wallbrook.

Ern was a hardworking man whose life was defined by dedication, perseverance, and pride in his craft. He began his working life with Haliburton Farms and later spent a short time traveling with the Bill Lynch Shows before finding his true calling in masonry. After being hired by Carey Brothers Masonry, Ern earned his Masonry license and quickly became known for his strong work ethic and skill. In 1975, he took a leap of faith and established his own business, Ernest F. Myles Construction, a company he built with determination and pride over many decades.

Ern was widely respected for the quality of his workmanship and the pride he took in every project he touched. Masonry was not just a job to him, it was a craft he truly loved. Even as most people his age were long retired, Ern continued doing what he loved. Well into his mid-80s, he could still be found climbing staging, working on rooftops, and topping out chimneys with the same determination he had shown throughout his life. His work ethic and strength were admired by everyone who knew him. In fact, the day before his surgery, Ern had been out working at his wood lot, a true reflection of the kind of man he was, someone who simply never slowed down.

Outside of work, Ern had a special love for old cars, especially VW bugs, which became something of a passion for him over the years. He owned many of them and enjoyed tinkering with and talking about them whenever he could.

Ern was predeceased by his beloved wife Pearl, son-in-law Carmen, and ten brothers and sisters.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 1:00 pm, at 1380 Bishopville Rd, Bishopville, NS.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bishopville Cemetery c/o Ray Benjamin, 2459 Bishopville Rd., Bishopville, NS B0P 1P0, or to Valley Hospice, Kentville.
