- Jean Sylvia Schofield (Lockhart)
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Jean Sylvia Schofield, age 82, on September 13, 2022 at Windsor Elms Village in Falmouth, NS. Jean was born and raised on the much loved family farm in Falmouth but lived most of her adult life in Hantsport, where she raised her family.
She was the daughter of the late Earl and Violet Lockhart and beloved wife of the late Charles Schofield who she was married to for 43 years at the time of his death in 2004. Mom was a quiet soul. Her main goal in life was not to be a burden to anyone, which proved to be challenging for the family as she grew older and never wanted to ask for help. She was first and foremost a "Mom" primarily staying at home during her children's younger years and later taking a job at CKF Inc. in Hantsport. At the time of her retirement, she was employed at Sears Catalog and Appliance Sales in Windsor. She also loved to talk about her very first job as a teen at the Windmill Canteen in Falmouth. Jean and Charlie became travelers in their later years. They enjoyed trips to Nashville, Branson, Niagara Falls and other locations in Canada and the US. She especially enjoyed a trip they took to California where they met up with her sister and brother-in-law (Dorothy and Reg) and toured the western US, visiting places like Malibu Beach, Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon. Jean also felt very fortunate to have had the opportunity to travel to Florida for several winters with Dorothy and Reg. Jean's favorite pastime was spending time with her grandchildren who she absolutely adored. There were many sleepovers and end of school year outings and lots of baking in her little kitchen on Chestnut Avenue.
Along with her parents and husband, Jean is predeceased by her brother-in-law Reg Redden; sister-in-law Phyllis Schofield; mother-in-law Adora Phillips; fathers-in-law Austin Schofield and Elmer Phillips.
A graveside service will be held at the Riverbank Cemetery in Hantsport on Monday, September 19th at 2pm. Reception to follow at the Churchill House in Hantsport.
