    • GREENO, Gordon Roy, CD
Age 89, of Berwick, formerly of New Minas, passed away Thursday, January 27, 2022, in Grand View Manor, Berwick. Born in Mount Denson, he was a son of the late Gilbert and Jane (Guptill) Greeno. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by siblings, Lloyd, Alton “Jack”, Kenneth, Cyril, Jean Hiltz, Greta Buckler and Stella Benedict. Gordon’s employment history spanned 60 years. The 23 years serving in the Canadian Army as a Military Policeman was the highlight of his working experience. The opportunity to serve in several provinces of Canada, Europe and the Middle East, provided knowledge and confidence. Service with the military prompted a keen interest in military history resulting in the reading of many books on the subject. He would never attempt to hide his pride in being a member of “The Fraternity of Canadian Soldiers”. One of his expressions was “Soldiers – it’s not what they do, it’s what they are!”. After retiring from military service, he worked for the Canadian Department of Immigration from 1980-1991. He later served as a Commissionaire with the Kentville Police Service and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Wolfville. He was a proud Canadian and was always most appreciative of those who treated him with respect. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or funeral service, by request. Donations in memory may be made to the Valley Hospice Foundation or VON Annapolis Valley.
