    • BOYD, Hugh Benjamin

Age 86, passed away on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, peacefully at home. Born in Nova Scotia, he graduated with a degree in maritime science/business administration. Known by many as the “Cap’n”, he helped build and sail the replica HMS Bounty for nearly 40 years. He enjoyed canoe/kayak racing, long-distance running, hiking, and climbing mountains. He was also a classically-trained pianist and taught himself the accordion and bagpipes. He was preceded in death by his birth parents, Ruby and Tom Boyd Sr.; his stepmother, Effie; and wife of over 50 years, Sharon Dewar Boyd. He will be sorely missed by family and friends who will never forget his gentle, kind demeanor, his generosity, and his easy smile. There will be a private family service. Rest in peace dear Daddy. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to his amazing caregiver Peggy Quigley who treated him like a king in his final years battling Alzheimer’s.
