- Ellen Louise Baker, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on June 2, 2025, in Halifax, Nova Scotia. She was born on June 30, 1946, in Windsor, Nova Scotia, and her passing has left a void in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
She was predeceased by her common-law husband Wayne Brown, her parents Avon and Levera Baker, sisters Merle Eldridge and Judith Farquhar, and brother Aubrey Baker.
Ellen's life was marked by her dedication to her family and her love for her work. She was the manager of a shoe department at The Met in Windsor and later at Towers in New Minas. Her work ethic and commitment to excellence were evident in all that she did.
Beyond her professional life, Ellen was known for her love of reading and her passion for playing rummoli with her friends at the trailer park. She cherished the time she spent with her family and friends, especially when they gathered to play cards. Ellen's love for Elvis was well-known, and she found great joy in visiting Graceland.
She and Wayne enjoyed camping in Weymouth, often accompanied by her niece Marion and her husband Mitch. Ellen's warmth and kindness were evident in everything she did, and she was renowned for her baking, especially her delicious butter tarts.
A celebration of Ellen's life will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at the Windsor Legion (Lower level) from 2 pm to 4 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia.
Ellen Louise Baker will be remembered for her unwavering love, her generous spirit, and her ability to bring joy to those around her. She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories that will forever live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the love and light that she brought into the world.
