- Roy Francis Newcombe, age 87, of Coldbrook, passed away at the Valley Regional Hospital surrounded by family on November 1, 2023. Born in Murphy’s Cove he was the eldest son of Esther (Monk) and Harvey Newcombe.
Roy was a skilled craftsman and renowned for his ability to build amazing pieces of furniture and beautiful original homes. He handcrafted his beloved log cabin in New Ross where he enjoyed fly-fishing and entertaining with family and friends. Roy loved the outdoors and appreciated nature year-round. He loved music and dancing and could entertain an audience with recitations of poems and ballads from Robbie Burns and Robert Service. Roy was a kind, hard-working, artistic man who lived a full life in his 87 years. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. He enriched our lives beyond measure.
Cremation has taken place and a private celebration of his life will follow at a later date.
