- James Elwyn Morine, a beloved husband, father, son, and brother, passed away on June 14, 2024, at the Dartmouth General Hospital. Born on May 1, 1954, in the picturesque town of Wolfville, where he spent most of his life in Avonport/Hantsport, Nova Scotia, James was a cherished member of his community and a source of love and strength for his family and friends.
James, or Jim as he was affectionately known, was the son of Byron Morine and Mildred Morine Harnish. Besides his father, James is also predeceased by his brother Bob Morine.
Jim's life was marked by dedication and love. He worked at CKF for over 37 years, where he formed lifelong friendships and left a lasting impact on those around him. His commitment to his family was unwavering, and he took an early retirement to care for his beloved wife, Shirley. His devotion and selflessness were a testament to the depth of his love.
In his leisure time, Jim found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He had a passion for Rock & Roll music and could often be found tapping his feet to the rhythm of his favorite tunes. He was an avid card player, with cribbage being his game of choice. His competitive spirit shone through in games of dice and Trivial Pursuit, where he always gave his best effort. A dedicated wrestling fan, he never missed a match and found great enjoyment in following the sport.
Jim's love for his family was evident in every moment he spent with them. He cherished the warmer weather, as it meant he could fire up the grill and share delicious meals with his loved ones. His laughter and good humor brought joy to every gathering, and his presence was a source of comfort and strength for all who knew him.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all the home care services, respiratory care/inspired program, and the compassionate staff at the QE2 and Dartmouth General Hospitals. A special thank you goes to the palliative care team and the staff on the 3 east unit for their exceptional care and support during Jim's final days.
In honor of Jim's memory, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation and the Lung Association, causes that were close to his heart.
A celebration of Jim's life will be held on July 27, 2024 @2pm at the Hantsport Baptist Church Hall. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him, and his legacy of love and devotion will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known him. Rest in peace, Jim, knowing that you are deeply loved and will be forever missed.
