- Ronald Richard (Dick) Shaw "Dickie-Doo"
October 4, 1933 - March 22, 2024
Dick was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia on October 4, 1933, and passed away in Grande Prairie, Alberta, on March 22, 2024.
I am devastated to share the passing of my beloved dad, Dickie-Doo. It was fairly sudden, and he was an extraordinary man, making this extremely difficult for those who knew him. He was so many things the world needed: kind, thoughtful, generous, intelligent but never made someone feel inferior, he was slow and rare to anger; when he was wronged, he forgave quickly, and I can count the number of times he was mad in my life on one hand. He loved wholly, unreservedly, and unconditionally. He never said a bad word about a soul in his 90 years. He studied and enjoyed sailing for Canada when he was younger, as well as enjoyed playing tennis and golf.
Dad loved cars, and his second car was a Porsche roadster that he cherished. He was the most incredible husband to my mom, and the best dad to me and Morgan growing up; I could always tell him things and knew he was listening. He lent a hand to those in need and did it without expecting anything in return. He never told a lie. He was a Professional Ceramic Engineer and created bricks that were used in schools and cement used in building bridges. When you were around him, you were in the presence of a true gentleman. The world needs more people like my dad in this world, and I'll spend the rest of my life trying to be just like him.
He was predeceased by his loving wife Marion Rose Shaw (nee Adams), his son Morgan Stewart Shaw, and his sister Linda Healy.
