    • Virginia M. "Jinny" WRIGHT (Eaton) — Halifax

Of Cameron Hall, Parkland, Halifax, NS, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side in the VG Site, QEII on December 5, 2021. She was born in Boston, MA on October 19, 1925. At the age of 13, she began her art lessons where she discovered a passion for painting that continued throughout her life. Following graduation from Milton High School, MA, she attended Acadia University, where she met her future husband and love of her life, H. Millard (Joey) Wright. She and her Joey were married at Parkway Methodist Church in Milton, MA on August 23, 1947. In 1958, coinciding with a move to the Halifax area, she began her art career. As a talented artist, her mediums included oils, acrylics, pastels, charcoal pencils and watercolors which were her favourite. She created numerous portraits, still life and landscape paintings. She was a founding member of Painters Palette group and studied with many well-known artists, including John Cook, Tony and Jane Law, Tom McKay, Alice Reed, Jeannie Hancock and many others. She also painted weekly with the Bethany Art Group where she made many lifelong friends. She exhibited in various art galleries such as the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, Saint Mary’s and Dalhousie Universities, Sydney, Middleton’s MacDonald Museum and at various other locations in Halifax. She was a long-standing member of the Morgan Logan Chapter, Imperial Order Daughters of the Empire (IODE). She was a committed member of the basket-painting group for the annual IWK ‘Kermesse’. The auxiliary honoured her with a life membership following 40 years of participation. Jinny had a talent in making each and every one of her family and friends feel special and loved, including all her friends and staff at Parkland, Cameron Hall. She was predeceased by her parents, Horace (Tim) and Laura (Peg) Eaton of Milton, MA; brother, Horace (Bud), Seattle, WA and sister, June Hill, Houlton ME. The family would like to say a special thank you to all the health care providers on 9A of the VG hospital who went above and beyond expectations to ensure Mum’s comfort and compassion and support for all of us. A family only reception will be held in J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr., Halifax, on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at 2 p.m. Proof of vaccination will be required. In lieu of flowers and in recognition of the season, the family suggests donations be made to the IWK Health Centre Foundation.
