- Maxine Turner, Age 97, of Windsor, formerly of Hantsport, passed away in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor on Thursday, September 11, 2025. She was born in Windsor on February 10, 1928, the daughter of the late Herbert and Maude (Harvie) Miller. Maxine was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She graduated from Windsor Academy and then in 1950 from Nursing School at the Victoria General Hospital in Halifax. She worked for many years at Payzant Memorial Hospital and later at Hants Community Hospital in Windsor as a RN casual worker. Maxine married Harry W. Turner in 1951 and lived with him in Hantsport for 43 years, until they moved to Windsor in 2004. She was predeceased by him, her loving husband, in 2010.
It should be said that Mum really loved living at Gladys Manning Seniors Apartments. There were many friends over the 21 plus years that she lived there.
Besides her parents and husband, Harry, she was predeceased by her brothers, Charlie (Mary), Bob and Don.
Arrangements for cremation have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, where a funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, September 18 in the funeral home chapel, Rev. Penny Nelson officiating. A reception will immediately follow in the funeral home’s Elmcroft Reception Centre. A private interment will follow in Riverbank Cemetery, Hantsport. Family flowers only. Donations in Maxine's memory may be made to any of the following: The Hantsport Food Bank, Carey Me Fund, Avon United Church, or to a charity of one’s choice.
