- HARVEY, William \'Frank\'
Age 91 years young, passed away Saturday, October 12, 2019 in Truro. Frank lived there for over half of his life after growing up in Summerville. Frank had a long career after moving to Truro in 1951 starting at Acadia Trust as a general accountant, Program Manager at CKCL for 14 years and then 15 years owner/operator of Frank Harvey Travel. His contributions to both broadcasting and the travel industry was recognized by awards in 1977 and 1987 respectively. Frank’s social personality shone through his involvement in many organizations. He did not hesitate to give his time to Boy Scouts of Canada, Kinsman/K-40’s, Golden K and the Chamber of Commerce. He was humbled having been part of the group that was instrumental in the installation of the original lift at Wentworth Ski Hill. He organized and became the first President of Brule Beach Estates Limited and during his time in the Kinsmen he assisted in the original fundraising to build Victoria Park Pool. He was always most at home by the ocean either at the trailer or on a boat. He especially enjoyed any activity with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. \'Grampie\' was always there for a hug and a laugh anytime we needed. He was preceded in death by his parents; and younger brother, Hilton Harvey. Family will greet friends to share memories and stories from 1-3 p.m. on Thursday, October 17th, in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro. Interment will take place at a private family service.
