Age 68, of Windsor Back Road, Three Mile Plains, Hants Co., passed away on Wednesday, Octo­ber 8, 2014, at home surrounded by her family and was released in love. Born on August 18, 1946, in Mon­treal, she was a daughter of Jean (Sparks) Thibodeau and the late Douglas Sparks. Carol had a love for music, children and singing. Predeceased by maternal grandpar­ents, Harold and Theresa Gallant. 1323 SKIPPER, Shirley Seva

Age 85, of Windsor Elms Village, Falmouth, passed away peacefully August 1, 2019, with family by her side. Born April 17, 1934 in Wolfville, she was a daughter of the late Leora (Tracey) and James Vaughan. Besides her parents, Shirley was predeceased by her son, Richard Vaughan; sisters, Gwen Crane, Christine Boudreau and infant sister, Sylvia; brothers, Arthur, Leo and Clyde. Shirley grew up in a large family who loved to gather for music and laughter. She always made sure there was always room for one more at the dinner table. 1324 SMITH (Gordon), Elizabeth \'Joy\'
Left us peacefully in the early morn­ing of Sunday, October 19, 2014, after spending a number of years suffering from dementia. She is now free. Joy was born in 1930 in MacGregor, Man., where she spent happy years riding sleighs under furs in winter to the one-room schoolhouse at which her mother, Blanche Wood, taught. She grew up having adventures on the farm of her kindly, but formidable grand­mother Wood, as her Scottish fa­ther, Hugh Bissett Gordon, died when she was two. She later moved to and attended school in Winnipeg and Vancouver. She completed a de­gree in fashion at Ryerson in Toron­to, then moved to Montreal to work for DuPont in consumer textiles. She loved the job, as DuPont was at the forefront of invention of new textiles, such as nylon, at the time and Joy travelled to market and sold these new products. The fishermen in Lunenburg were especially excit­ed to see her arrive with nylon rope in the late 1950s! Also excited to meet her, skiing in Quebec’s Eastern Townships, was the newly-minted Dr. John Smith, her future husband, of Hantsport. The two made several of their lifelong friends in Montreal. After marrying in 1960, John and Joy returned to live in Hantsport and Windsor until a move to Toron­to and finally, settlement back in Halifax in the mid 70s, where John worked at Victoria General Hospital. Joy was a very full-time mother with a husband out of the home for any­where from 12-16 hours a day, but nevertheless the two created a home full of love and laughter, for which we truly thank them. Joy always had a sparkle. She loved skiing, tennis and her volunteer work for Meals on Wheels and the Halifax Ladies Musical Club. 1325 SMITH (Moore), Muriel Margaret — 82, Dykeland Lodge, Windsor, for­merly of Mount Denson, passed away peacefully March 22, 2012, on a beau­tiful spring day, surrounded by loving family. Born in Windsor, she was a daughter of the late John and Lavinia (Gillott) Moore. Muriel was the last surviving member of her fam­ily. She loved her home and her gar­dens. Muriel loved flowers and was well-known for her many beautiful ar­rangements, some of which she won ribbons for at the Hants County Exhi­bition. She had worked for CKF Inc. and then several years at Avon Valley Greenhouses. 1326 Smith Homer The marriage of Beatrice Mary, daughter of the late P. Homer, and of Mrs. Homer, of Valois, Que., to Mr. George Randall Smith, son of Mr. and Mrs. B. T. Smith, of Hantsport Nova Scotia, took place on Saturday afternoon, June 17, at four o'clock in the Church of the Resurrection, Valois, the Rev. H. Coffin officiating. Mr. R. H. 1 Beckett played the wedding music, and Mrs. A. Sutter sang during the signing of the register. fc The bride was given away by her uncle, Mr. C. N. Rudge, and was attended by her cousin. 1327 SMITH, Eric W.
Age 86, of Hantsport, passed away peacefully, Sunday, December 13, 2015, in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Eric was a son of the late William G. and Eva C. (Eye) Smith (Hantsport); brother of the late Walter G. and Fred Smith and Margaret Hazelton. He was very active in his church and community and very knowledgeable in Hantsport history and its people. Eric enjoyed antique cars and was an avid fan of Chryslers. He served as Past Master (twice) and Secretary of Poyntz Lodge No. 44 in Hantsport; a member of The Shore Lodge No. 134; served as Past District Chaplain of Hants County District and Past High Priest of the Hiram Chapter of Royal Arch Masons in Windsor. A memorial service celebrating Eric's life will be held 2 p.m., Friday, December 18 in St. Andrew's Anglican Church, 59 Main St., Hantsport, Father Tom Henderson officiating. 1328 SMITH, Irving Wilson — Mount Den­son, Hants Co., died Wednesday, June 30, 2010, at home five days before his 82nd birthday. He farmed the family’s century farm \'Chestnut Square\'. He was the fourth generation of Smiths to work this farm settled by the Aca­dians and bought by the Smith family in 1822. He was an avid outdoorsman that loved to hunt and fish. He had a keen sense of community and family history that dated back many genera­tions. He was predeceased by his mother, the former Mary K. (Scott) Smith (Windsor) and father, Alfred D. Smith; brothers, Alyne D. Smith, To­ronto, Ont.; James P. Smith, Mount Denson; his extended family; his com­mon- law partner, Rebecca G. Zwicker. Burial will be in Mount Denson Cemetery, Rev. Age 79 of Hantsport. With great sadness, I announce the passing of my dear husband, Keith on January 22, 2020, in Hants Regional Hospital, after a long battle with cancer, heart disease and kidney failure. He was born in Windsor, a son of the late Fred and Mary (Millett) Smith (of Hantsport). He grew up in Woodside, loved people dearly and loved to talk and joke. Keith was a trucker most of his life, owning his own company (No Choice Co. Ltd.) He found great pleasure in gardening. Age 89, of Dykeland Lodge, Windsor, formerly of Hantsport, passed away peacefully Sunday, November 3, 2019 in Dykeland. Born in Upper Falmouth, she was a daughter of the late Lewis A. and Georgie E. (Robinson) Smith. Myrtle belonged to the Hantsport Elders and was a member of the Anglican Church. In her younger years she was in a bowling league. Myrtle was employed for 32 years at CKF. She enjoyed spending her days knitting and crocheting, even working on a piece in the last few weeks. 1331 SMITH, Margaret Scott Cora

July 10, 1921 - December 3, 2017, age 96, passed away quietly December 3rd, at home in Jubilee Lodge, Hantsport. She was the last remaining member of her immediate family. She was born in Scotland, a daughter of the late Harry and Isabella (George) Guptell. She was member of the Quilters 6 Club at Lockhartville United Baptist Church for many, many years. She enjoyed sewing and embroidery work, making too many pillowcases, bureau scarves and tablecloths to count. Besides her parents Jean was predeceased by her husband, of 73 years, William (2011); son, Harry at birth; sisters, Marie (Bob) Fliger, Gladys (William) Watters; brothers, Charles Guptell and Blake Guptell, also grandsons, Dale Allen (2010), Jason Allen (1999) and granddaughter, Margaret Allen at birth; son-in-law, Stephen Allen (2016).  		Guptell, Margaret Scott Cora (I4506)

Age 95 years of Dykeland Lodge in Windsor, for­merly of Mount Denson, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2014. Born in Falmouth on April 19, 1919, he was a son of the late Burpee and Bertha (Swinimer) Smith. Percy was the last surviving member of his im­mediate family. He was a veteran of the Second World War, serving in the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps. He worked at Minas Basin Pulp and Power Company for 38 years. He was known by many for his work undercoating cars. He was passionate about gardening and won several awards for his flowers and vegetables. 1333 Smith, Percy Frederick – age 95 years of Dykeland Lodge in Windsor, formerly of Mt. Denson, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2014.

In keeping with his wishes cremation has taken place and there will be no memorial service. A private family interment will take place at a later date.

1334 SNELL (Tolson), Elizabeth Churchill

Announcing the death of Elizabeth Churchill Tolson Snell on September 5, 2019, she lived a full life with a nature that was theatrical, patriotic, intelli gent, exuberant, magical, passionate, and compassionate. She and her three siblings were born into a family that imbued history, business and writing, brought up in historic Scott Manor (Bedford, N.S.), by their father Richard F. R. Tolson, a local businessman and their mother, Elsie Churchill Tolson, mother of four, a keen amateur historian, author and latterly newspaper columnist. Within that environment, it was natural for Elizabeth to pursue a higher education, earning a B.A. in English and History (Dalhousie University, Halifax), Theatre studies (Stephen’s College, Columbia, Mo.), and then Journalism (University of King’s College, Halifax) of which she was proud, it being the oldest university in the British Commonwealth outside of Britain. Completing her university education Elizabeth joined the Halifax Mail-Star in 1958 and within a year had secured her own column, Pease Porridge Hot, writing on diverse subjects from fashion and society, to wheelchair access \'Steps Urged to Eliminate Steps\' and indigenous issues \'Native Indians Want Their Full Citizenship\'. A natural researcher, documentarian and archivist, she maintained exacting written records of everything that mattered to her, from family matters to financial records, historical papers and politics - following political leaders that piqued her interest at all levels of government, at home and abroad. She supported her mother in research with the publishing of a local history book, The Captain, The Colonel and Me, in 1979 and in 1994 researched and wrote her own book, The Churchills: Pioneers and Politicians England, America and Canada. It was published in the West Country, Devon, U.K., where Elizabeth explored the early beginnings of the Churchill family. Elizabeth was the 11th generation of her family in North America. In 1959, Elizabeth married her beloved James Snell with this reflection of their courtship: \'James drove past me at Dalhousie in his red convertible MG, then stopped and said that he would pick me up if I liked and go on a date after he had run an errand. I walked back to my digs thinking he wouldn’t turn up, but 10 minutes later he appeared and asked me to jump into his car. I didn’t jump out of his car again until he passed away in 2013.\' Community-minded, Elizabeth and James were involved in early efforts to clean up Bedford Basin upon which they sailed. In this, she supported James in his role as co-chair of the Canadian Olympic Trials in 1972, and as later president of the Nova Scotia Yacht Racing Association. She was also an active fundraiser and Board Member at the Halifax Bengal Lancers. She would later be a driving force, along with many others, in having Scott Manor become a museum which came to fruition in 1992 when it was bought by the Town of Bedford and is today a registered provincial and municipal heritage property. A service for Elizabeth will be held Friday, September 20th at 1 p.m. in All Saints Anglican Church, Bedford. Her burial will follow with a reception in Scott Manor at 2:30 p.m., the rest of her remains to be buried at Riverbank Cemetery in Hantsport at 4:30 p.m. 		Tolson, Elizabeth Churchill (I8457)
 
1335 SNELL, James Frederick
We announce the death of James Frederick Snell on July 25th, 2013. He was the course marker, the com­pass, the road less travelled, the one with the quiet competence, to which others turned. He was a one-off and quiet leader in so many ways. A man of \'action\' and few words who was so beautifully attuned to nature, the woods and trees, the ocean and animals that he embodied what most people only aspire to with words he did in life: the \'spiritual\'. He did this pragmatically by demon­strating a quality of oneness with his surrounding and resources. In Wentworth Valley on his woodlot he very early on practiced sustainable woodlot manage­ment and experimented with growing species not na­tive to Nova Scotia. In total he planted almost 100,000 trees. In a continuation of his interest in forestry he used wood to build houses. In 1975 when the container port was built in Halifax and the Cana­dian government was lamenting that we must be­come more than just \'hewers of wood and drawers of water\', he was of like mind, and working through the Federal Government and the Nova Scotia Agent Gen­eral’s office in London he formed Habitations Inter­national (Interhabs). This company specialized in building architecturally designed, affordable, conser­vation award winning timber houses that are now standing in 28 areas of the world, from Chile and Argentina, from Europe to South Korea. He also ap­preciated historic buildings as well as new, and be­came one of the first and remained one of the longest-tenants of the Halifax \'Historic Properties\'. Anyone who knew James would recognize that he loved nature and animals and trod on this earth with precision and grace whether he was soaring over the Annapolis Valley in his glider or hiking and exploring nature with his dear dog Britta; swooshing down a mountain on his skis or artfully judging the winds in a race on his beloved sailboat. Born 1933 in Montreal, the first 10 years of his life were spent mostly in New Richmond on the Bay de Chaleur, Gaspé Peninsula, Que., from where his father exported timber from Quebec, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia, to the United Kingdom and North Africa. In the 1940s when Frederick W. Snell became associated with R . A. Jodrey of Hantsport, in the export of east coast Canadian lumber to help rebuild war-torn Europe, the family moved to Nova Scotia and James went on to boarding school in Rothesay (RCS), N.B. He loved all his years so much at RCS, he did not want to leave to take Engineering at Dalhousie. For over 40 years he served first as fleet captain, rear, vice and then full commodore at Bedford Basin Yacht Club, and then president of Nova Scotia Yacht Racing Association. From then on countless provincial, national and in­ternational sporting committees, notably 1972 co-chair with Hume Wells of Canadian Olympic Trials (HOTSAIL) in Halifax for Kiel Germany, at which Sol­ing crew from British Columbia won Canada’s first Olympic sailing medal. He was also a long-time member of O’Keefe Sports Foundation, Toronto, which funded coaches for all sporting disciplines in the whole of Canada. After his housing project \'Yachtside One\', designed by internationally re­nowned architect David Forsythe won the Canadian Multiple Housing Design award in 1974, James was invited to become a member of the Canadian Hous­ing Design Council in Ottawa. He later went on to be one of the three-person national award selection jury. For 12 years (1982-94) he served as government ap­pointee to the Board of Saint Mary’s University and was chairman of the building committee recreation and fitness centre. In 1984 he was the first Nova Sco­tia member of Progressive Conservative Canada 500 club; a founding member of Halifax World Trade & Convention Centre; in 2000 a member of the Nova Scotia Business Development Corporation in John Hamm’s Government. A small service is to be held on August 9th in the chapel of Rothesay Netherwood School, much beloved by James and arranged by his lifelong friend, John Warburton Bate. 1338 SPENCER, Peter Jeffrey
Age 52, Hantsport, died suddenly Tuesday, June 25, 2013, in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. He was a son of the late Roland and Joann (Coffill) Spencer. Peter en­joyed meeting and talking to people during the years he operated C-Thru Window Cleaning. He was an outgoing person and tried to help when possible. 1339 SPIDLE, Stephen Russell \'Spiderman\'

With broken hearts, we are saddened to share the sudden loss of Steve. Born Sep­tember 14, 1950, in Wolfville, to Pearl (Barkhouse) Spidle and the late Russell Spidle. Steve was employed with Canadian Food In­spection Agency for over 27 years, retiring early due to ill health. Spi­der loved soccer, playing for many, many years, retiring a Proud Pad­dy’s Pub player. His new passion was golfing and Eagle Crest became Steve’s new home for 10 years. He not only enjoyed every game (except the loonie holes 9 and 18) but his golfing buddies also became great friends. Everyone knew Stevie was a die hard fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Blue Jays, always hop­ing for next year! Cooking supper and a glass of wine was his favourite daily routine. John Prine was on Steve’s bucket list. He not only saw him perform but also shook his hand and told him \'You may see me tonight with an illegal smile\'. Born November 28, 1939, passed away peacefully with family around her on June 1, 2018. Daughter of John and Celia MacDonald of Mount Denson. She was predeceased by her husband, George Spinney, and son, Gregory. Marilyn was a very beautiful person and had a heart of gold and a smile that warmed your heart and lit up your face. She will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege to know her and be embraced by one of her famous hugs. There will be a Memorial Service at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 6th in Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., 902-825-3448 with Rev. Bill McLeod officiating. 1341 SPINNEY, Gregory Wayne - 46, Trenton, Ont., passed away July 10, 2006, in Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, Middleton, with his family present. Born in Windsor, he was a son of George and Marilyn (MacDonald) Spinney, Greenwood. Greg moved to Trenton in 1978 and was employed as a maintenance supervisor in Trenton. He had his own snow removal business and most recently he was employed as a long haul truck driver but his main interest during these past years was his hobby farm. He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Eva Sherman and George Spinney, and maternal grandparents, John and Celia MacDonald. Age 68, Avonport, passed away on Friday, December 6, 2019 in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville.

Born in Windsor, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Elsie (Phillips) Greenlund. Faye had been actively involved in many churches, including: St. Andrew’s Anglican Church in Hantsport, Lockhartville Baptist Church, Falmouth Baptist Church, St. Luke’s Anglican Church in Dartmouth, Anglican Parish of Wilmot and St. John’s Anglican Church, Wolfville. She was also a member of the Breast Quest Dragon Boat Society. Faye worked at Disco Food Mart, Hantsport, Lavinia’s Old English Delights, Avonport Discount (Fabrics) and Hantsport Pharmasave. She enjoyed bus trips, quilting, Hallmark Christmas movies and recently, birdwatching. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by brother, Perry Spidle.  		Greenlund, Faye Cynthia (I2386)
 
1343 St. Clair Harvie “Joey” Patterson, age 97, of Windsor, passed away on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 in the Dykeland Lodge, Windsor. Born in Hantsport, he was the son of the late Everett and Jessie (Harvie) Patterson.

Joey joined the Royal Canadian Navy on May 8, 1943 and served during the 2nd World War on the HMCS Arvida K113, before joining the Navy he signed on the S.S. “Gypsum Prince”, carrying Gypsum to U.S. ports. Joey also worked for a foundation towing company on a tug boat in the Halifax Harbor. He worked various jobs in Hantsport, retiring in 1985 as manager of Basinview Village in Wolfville. Joey was past President of Lucknow Branch 109 Royal Canadian Legion, Hantsport; past President of Hantsport and area Historical Society. He was passionate about history and wrote three books in his lifetime – focusing on shipbuilding. Joey was a member and deacon of the Hantsport Baptist Church.

Joey was predeceased by his wife, Eudora (2018); siblings, Arthur, Frank, Gordon, Frederick, Jean; son-in-law, David Schofield.

The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 009 will hold their service 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 31, 2022 in the Hantsport Baptist Church, 6 Willow Street, Hantsport with Memorial Service to follow. Rev. Terry Coldwell and Rev. Jennifer Riley officiating.

1344 Stanley James "Stan" Singleton – 83, of Greenwich, Kings County, passed away Thursday, August 8, 2019 at home. Born in England, he was a son of the late John and Nellie (King) Singleton. He had been employed as a millwright with Minas Basin Pulp and Paper. He also worked in construction and later farming, from where he retired. He was predeceased by four brothers, Albert, John, Ralph and Harold. 1345 Starratt (Harvie), Charlotte Lovell Edith – 87 of Lower Sackville, it is with sad hearts we announce Charlotte’s peaceful passing on May 24, 2022, after suffering a massive stroke. Joyful for her gain but saddened by her passing, Charlotte will be truly missed by the family and friends she has left behind. Born in Digby NS on September 6, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Edith (Winchester) Harvie.

Charlotte had a long and satisfying career in the Halifax Pathology Laboratory, during which time she also studied and completed her degree at Dalhousie University. She was a long-time member of Bedford Baptist Church and had the privilege of being baptized in the Bedford Basin along with her dad in 1967. Charlotte had a heart to serve others; she gave generously, offered warm hospitality, was always ready with advice, and brightened the room with her presence. Charlotte also had a deep love for cats (Casper was known to many) and dogs, as evidenced by several rescues over the years.

There will be no public service or visitation upon family request, and a private family internment will be held at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Lower Sackville at a later date.

Age 86, of Hants Border/Windsor, passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2017, in Dykeland Lodge, Windsor, where she was a resident for the last 15 years. Born October 31, 1930, in Three Mile Plains, Hants Co, she was a daughter of the late Percy and Gladys (Woodman) Boyd. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by the love of her life, husband, H. Victor Starratt (1990). Jean was a wonderful, mom, nan, and grandnan. She was a member of Hantsport Baptist Church and active in the Kings Daughters. 1347 STARRATT, Shirley Amelia

October 28, 1935 January 8, 2019. It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Shirley Amelia Starratt of Leduc, Alta., at the age of 83. Born in Springhill, she was a daughter of the late Guy and Hattie (Stonehouse) Demings. She was predeceased by brothers, Ronald, Fraser and Carl; sisters, Dorothy Porter and Evelyn Walsh. Shirley was blessed with an awesome gift of music which she generously shared with her family, friends and community. Cremation has taken place and a committal service will be in Riverbank Cemetery, Hantsport at a later date. 1348 STARRATT, Wilbur Hedley

Of Sackville. It is with sad hearts we announce Wilbur’s passing on June 16, 2020 peacefully at home with loved ones close by. Born in Hantsport, on November 30, 1933, he was the son of the late Lloyd and Leonore (Bishop) Starratt. During his lifetime he wore many hats including: Mechanic, Carpenter, Entrepreneur, Teacher, Counsellor, Chairman of KCSB, Assistant Engineer-Gypsum Boats, Mechanical Superintendent-National Gypsum, Wheeler Dealer, Owner/Operator of a General Store and two Service Stations. Wilbur settled into semi-retirement during winter in Arizona, enjoying the hot dry climate golfing and meeting new friends. Out-going by nature, he was quick witted with a playful sense of humour, strong work ethic, a commitment to fair play and a deep love of country music. He was one of the founding members of the band "Ebb Tide" that became well-known on the Shore and surrounding area for their dances, fundraisers and entertaining in Seniors’ facilities. A jam session always occurred whenever family or friends dropped by. In his early years he was heavily involved with playing hockey and baseball for local teams. He played for, and later coached, the Hantsport Shamrocks when they won the Eastern Senior A Men’s Baseball Championship in 1961. Family was especially important to Wilbur. Gatherings, special occasions, and reunions were always filled with music, laughter, and good food. He taught important life skills such as his commonsense attitude, wisdom, honesty, compassion for and love of animals and farming. If questioned he would reply, "I may not be right, but I am never wrong." Wilbur was a much-loved husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed. Wilbur was predeceased by daughter, Ruth Ann Bernard; son-in-law, Alan Levy; brother-in-law, Ivan (Whitey) Mclellan. 1349 STEELE, John Arthur \'Jack\' — 77, Lockhartville, passed away at home on Wednesday, June 20, 2012. Born in Sutton, Ont., John was a son of the late James and Mary Jane (Oliver) Steele. Before moving to Nova Scotia, John had served in the military and was an Army Service­man with SC 753 B Company. John had worked for many years with C. H. Norton Bus Lines in Ontario, driving school buses, transit bus­es and tour buses. After moving to Nova Scotia, John worked for several farms, the latest being Elderkin’s Farm, Greenwich. John loved to work in his vegetable gardens. He also loved his pets, espe­cially his cat \'Tiny\'. John may not have expressed it often, but he loved all his children, grandchildren, great-grand­children, stepchildren, step grand­children and step great-grandchil­dren very much. He will be sadly mis­sed by them all. Born on January 7, 1939 she was a daughter of the late Harrison and Hilda (West) Barkhouse. 1351 Stephen Douglas Gaudet
Age 64, of Hantsport. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Steve in the Hants Community Hospital on Monday, September 12, 2022. Born on March 10, 1958, he was a son of Emilier and Yvonne (Belliveau) Gaudet.

Steve lived in Hantsport his entire life and he was a well-respected member of the community. He was known for his kind, calm, gentle personality. He worked at Minas Basin, then CKF as a machinist/millwright until his retirement in 2017, although he didn’t relax for long. Steve was a master of all trades. When he wasn’t busy helping his friends and family with odd jobs, you could find him strumming his guitar at Fox Mountain, working on one of his toys or watching sports.

1352 Stephen Grant Folker, 58 of Cambridge passed away in his home on July 20, 2017.

He was born a special child and grew into a special person who touched the hearts of everyone he met. Stephen had to overcome many challenges but he did not want to be thought of by his \"disability\", he just wanted to be one of the boys.

Stephen was an avid biker and a member of the Veteran Commandos Motorcycle Club. He was a true \"biker\", through and through loving the freedom of the ride. But, when the colder months came and he was not able to ride the open roads, he would let the creative side soar by drawing anything that came to his imagination or he would use his skills to carve beautiful artwork out of wood.

Steve was a very talented man and a great husband; who loved his family and friends and was deeply loved by them. He will be greatly missed.

1353 Stephen Lloyd VanBlarcom, loving husband and father, volunteer, athlete, story teller, and accomplished musician, died of heart failure peacefully at home on Monday, September 23, 2019.

Stephen cared deeply about his community and was generous with his time and talent. He volunteered as a soccer coach at the HMCC and supported and played hockey for years. Stephen had a strong desire to provide and care for his family. He worked hard and he worked often. Stephen always gave his all. A gifted musician, Stephen could play many instruments; his favourite perhaps was his trusted banjo. 1354 Stephen W. "Steve" HART — Wolfville

Age 79, of Wolfville, passed away peacefully at home on December 16, 2021. Born June 26, 1942, he was the son of Harold and Ethel (Alley) Hart. Stephen was a graduate of Hantsport High School and the University of New Brunswick. He worked as an accountant throughout his career with Atlantic Wholesalers, Leduc Co-Op (Alberta), Bass River Chairs, Carey Brothers Construction and PMC Roofing. He was respected and admired by his many friends and business associates. Stephen enjoyed travelling, golf, hunting, and fine cars in younger days. He was an active member of community groups like Kinsmen and the Owls Club in Dartmouth. After retirement he spent a good amount of time walking within the community, and reading. He especially enjoyed visiting with friends and video calls with his two granddaughters! Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Evelyn Harvie. Age 63, of Hantsport, passed away at home on June 29, 2022. Steven was a son of Dorothy (Dorman) and the late Morley Sypher. Steven was a long-haul truck driver his entire adult life and developed many lifelong friendships. Steven was an avid Montreal Canadiens fan and NASCAR fan. Of Loon Lake, Hopewell, passed away, March 14, 2014. Bill was born in Yarmouth, on April 25, 1944, and was a son of May Stevens, Hantsport, and the late David Stevens. His greatest dream came true when he was able to move to his cottage at Loon Lake, at the age of 52. Here, he and his wife, Jean, were able to live life to the fullest, making many friends, and living the dream. His greatest passion was the outdoors, hunting, fishing, ATV-ing and snow­mobiling. At the time of his death, he was employed with Tru North Communications in New Glasgow. For 30 years previous, he had been employed with Trebley Food Bro­kerage and Amca Food Brokerage. Age 92, of Windsor Elms Village, Falmouth, passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2019. Kay was born in Bridgewater on June 16, 1927, the only child of the late Clarence and Eva (Siteman) Stoddard. After graduating from Bridgewater High School and Mount Allison University, she went on to the Provincial Normal College in Truro. Her teaching career started in Kentville, Liverpool and Lethbridge, Alta., before she settled in Scarborough, Ont., where she taught until her retirement in 1984. Moving to Hantsport, she was a member of Avon United Church (St. James) in Hantsport, life member of the UCW, volunteer with the Hantsport Historical Society and at Windsor Elms.
