Born in Centre Bur­lington, she was a daughter of Bea­trice (Card) Hoyt and the late Leslie Hoyt. Marilyn was a tireless worker in her community, especially for Kempt United Baptist Church and Summer­ville Volunteer Fire Department since its inception. She was well-known for her dedication, her determination, her guidance, and her devotion to her fam­ily, who were the jewels in her crown. A memorial service will be held Sunday, March 11, at 2 p.m. in Kempt United Baptist Church, Summerville, Lic. Betty Parker officiating with a pri­vate family burial in Loyal Hill Ceme­tery, Summerville, followed by a re­ception in Summerville Fire Hall.

Born on April 3, 1920, in Centre Burlington, she was the only child of the late Harry and Hazel (Mann) Card. Beatrice was a former school teacher for 32 years, having taught in River­side, Upper Bur­lington, Centre Burlington and re­tired from Dr. Ar­thur Hines Ele­mentary School, Summerville. She was a long-time member of Leila Re­bekah Lodge, No.59, Windsor and the Centre Burlington United Church. Besides her par­ents, she was predeceased by her hus­band, Leslie Hoyt (1958); her daugh­ter, Marilyn Ogilvie (2012); grand­daughter, Angela Hoyt (2011); long­time friend, Archie Blackburn (2003). A private fam­ily interment will be held in Centre Burlington Cemetery.
