    BUCHANAN, Beverly Roy \'Bev\'

    Age 71 of Hantsport, passed away Monday, December 11, 2017 at home. Born in Yarmouth, he was a son of the late Roy and Mabel (Bell) Buchanan. Bev was raised in Kentville and attended Kings County Academy (up on the hill). In his younger years, he was active in many sporting activities including golf, hockey and baseball, playing with the Kentville Wildcats and later coaching ball for the Hantsport Minor League. Following in his father’s footsteps, he joined the Dominion Atlantic Railway as a Relief Station Agent and then transferred to Saint John, N.B., working with the Canadian Pacific Railway. He then joined J. D. Irving Sawmill Division, where he was in charge of transportation. This led to his eventual position with Canadian Keyes Fibre, Hantsport, as Traffic Manager, from where he retired. He was a member of Avon United Church, Hantsport where he served as Chairman of the Board of Stewards.
