Gloria Jean Sherman
Age 72, of Lockhartville, Kings Co., died suddenly at home, Monday, September 2, 2019. Born on February 10, 1947, Gloria was raised in Lockhartville and was a daughter of Earl Henshaw and the late Winnifred (Spencer) Henshaw.

Gloria enjoyed being part of the Hants Border Community Hall and the Sisters of Hope group. She also enjoyed country music, especially Matt Balsor’s concerts.

Besides her mother, Gloria was predeceased by her husband, Fred Sherman. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, September 9 in DeMont Family Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Gary Manthorne officiating. Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery, King St., Windsor. A reception will be held in the Hants Border Community Hall, 13910 Hwy. 1, Hants Border.

Earl Leroy Henshaw, 95 of Lockhartville, passed away on May 12, 2022 in his home surrounded by his loving family. Born on October 17, 1926 in Lockhartville, he was the son of the late Percy and Mary (Brewster) Henshaw.

Earl was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend who will be dearly missed. His passion was his vegetable garden which is where Earl loved to be and tended to faithfully.

In addition to his parents, Earl was predeceased by his beloved wife, Winnifred “Winnie” (Devoue); daughter, Gloria; sons-in-law, Fred and Laird; grandsons, Brian and Kenneth; sisters, Irene, Annie, Alma, and Ida; brothers, Gordon, Joe, Paul, Sheldon, George, Rodney, Richard, and Harry in infancy.

Special thanks to Earl’s niece, Francis Henshaw, who was a great help in his care which was much appreciated and will not be forgotten. The family would also like to thank the VON and Palliative Care workers, Dawn Lowe and all involved at the Hantsport Clinic.

Cremation has taken place and a Graveside Service will be held on Friday, May 27, 2022 at 2:00 pm in the Lower Horton Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the VON (Victorian Order of Nurses), Annapolis Branch, Nova Scotia Heart & Stroke Foundation, or charity of one’s choice.

Earl married Winnifred Mae Spencer on 30 Jun 1946. Winnifred (daughter of Frank Devoue and Evelyn Spencer) was born on 11 Jan 1925 in Wolfville, Kings, Nova Scotia; died on 20 Feb 2012 in Lockhartville, Kings, Nova Scotia. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

HENSHAW, Winnifred Mae 'Winnie' — 87, Lockhartville, Kings Co., passed away Monday morning, February 20, 2012, at home surround­ed by her loving family. Born January 11, 1925, in Wolfville, she was a daugh­ter of the late Frank Devoue and Evelyn Spencer. Winnie was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed. Winnie was the last sur­viving member of her family being predeceased by brothers, Eldon and Frank; sisters, Freda and Eleanor; grandson, Brian at birth. Cremation has taken place. There will be no vis­itation by request. A memorial service will be 4 p.m. Sunday, February 26, in Serenity Lindsay Funeral Home, Wolfville with Rev. Gary Manthorne officiating. Interment will be at a later date. Family flowers only.
