Captain Peleg Holmes 3rd. Born 1785 at Yarmouth N.S. married 1st 1806, Mary Trefry, 2nd married Mary Lockhart of Horton. When he removed to Halfway River with his wife and family, in 1820 they brought 8 children with them. In 1821 he bought land from Peter Coalfleet and Sam Beckwith, and settled in Lower Horton. When the Baptist Church was organized in 1830 he was ordained Deacon. Thereafter, he was generally addressed as Deacon or Deacon Peleg Holmes. His house was just across the Horton-Falmouth Township line, on the Bluff Road. He resided there all of his life. Peleg died December 3rd. 1856. Buried in Riverbank Cemetery, Hantsport.
Peleg married Mary Trefry on 31 Dec 1805 in Chebogue, Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. Mary (daughter of Joshua Pitman Trefry and Mary Eleanor Allen) was born on 1 Aug 1786 in Chebogue, Yarmouth, Nova Scotia; died on 15 Jun 1825; was buried in Mount Denson Cemetery, Hants, Nova Scotia.
