    BECKWITH (Hazlett), Debra Eileen \'Debbie\'

It is with warm hearts and loving memories that we remember the life of Debra Eileen (Hazlett) Beckwith, age 59, of Lockhartville. Surrounded by those who loved her, Debbie fought a valiant battle with cancer and earned her wings on Friday, October 6th, 2017. Debbie cherished her family. Her family was the light of her life, and she felt so blessed and grateful to be able to share this world with each of them. She went to every ball game and hosted countless sleepovers, movie nights and family dinners. She understood the importance of spending her time with the ones she held dearest. Debbie was predeceased by her father and mother-in-law, John and Esther Beckwith; brothers and sisters-in-law, Eben, Lois, and Samuel Beckwith; Jim Burgess; Shelia and Alton Allen; and Michael Haley. Debbie had an entrepreneurial spirit and was driven to give her all to each venture she embarked upon. She enjoyed a career in the banking industry with the Bank of Montreal in Wolfville, and later with CIBC in Kentville. She spent more than ten years in the cottage industry of soap-making, with her mother as her partner. Annapolis Valley Soaps provided her the flexibility to raise her babies, express her artistry and to enjoy the effort of building a successful business. Once her children were raised, she followed the footsteps of her father and became a Realtor. She spent the last ten years helping people find the spaces in which they would raise their families and live their lives. Debbie put her heart and soul into every endeavour she undertook and those who had the chance to work with her, or to be served by her, were better for it. Like her namesake, Debbie was graceful and kind. She constantly thought of others and went out of her way to make people feel welcome, comfortable and appreciated. Her home was always open, and she truly meant it when she said, \'the more, the merrier\'. There was nothing that gave her more pleasure than being surrounded by her family and her friends. She had the most beautiful way of seeing the good in people and her authenticity was inspiring. She was strong and vibrant, gentle and true.

    Died:
    Ronald Roy "Shorty" Hazlett

Age 82, of Falmouth, passed away on October 14, 2020, with his family by his side, after a brief illness. He married the love of his life in the spring of 1955 and together they created a life many could only dream of. They filled their home with love and laughter, with family and with friends. They knew what was important in this life and they lived it every day. He has been received into the loving arms of his daughter, Debbie Beckwith; his son-in-law, Michael Haley; and his partner-in-crime, Kathleen MacKillop; as well as his family and friends who have gone before him. His life touched that of so many. He may have sold you your first home, or maybe he jammed and sang songs with you. You may know him from years of living in Hantsport or New Minas or Falmouth. You may have something he crafted or maybe he took you on a sightseeing flight over the Valley. Maybe he was a colleague or a friend. We don't have to look far to see how his life has impacted this world, and in that he will live on forever. We know what we lost, but more importantly we know what we had. Our lives are better because he was a part of them. Eighty-two years is a long time, but doesn't feel nearly long enough when you have to say goodbye. Instead, we will say "goodbye for now", knowing he will be forever in our hearts and that we will all be together again. A graveside funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, October 24th in Maplewood Cemetery, 1186 King St., Windsor, Rev. Bill Gibson officiating.
