    Frank Ellery Redden – 75, of Kentville, passed away Sunday, February 15, 2009 at home. Born in Kentville, he was a son of the late Gordon and Reta (Kelly) Redden. He had been employed with Avon Foods for many years, retiring as Traffic and Production Manager. He was a member of the Kentville United Baptist Church where he was a former member of the Board of Deacons and was an amateur ham radio operator. He volunteered with the Annapolis Valley Victorian Order of Nurses – Meals on Wheels Program. He was predeceased by a brother, Harold and a niece, Lesley. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville and there will be no visitation, by family request. The funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 18, 2009 in the Kentville United Baptist Church, The Reverend John McNally officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Kentville.

    Frank married Joan Anne Newcomb. Joan (daughter of Herbert Newcomb and Anne Smyth) was born in 1934 in Moncton, New Brunswick; died on 6 May 2019 in Kentville, Kings, Nova Scotia; was buried in Oak Grove Cemetery, Kentville, Nova Scotia. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]


  2. 3.  Joan Anne Newcomb was born in 1934 in Moncton, New Brunswick (daughter of Herbert Newcomb and Anne Smyth); died on 6 May 2019 in Kentville, Kings, Nova Scotia; was buried in Oak Grove Cemetery, Kentville, Nova Scotia.

    Joan Anne Redden (Newcomb) – age 84, of Kentville, passed away May 6, 2019. Born in Moncton, New Brunswick, she was a daughter of the late Herbert and Anne (Smyth) Newcomb. She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Frank Redden. Joan worked as a legal secretary in law firms in Montreal and Kentville and later as an administrative assistant at Scotia Bank, Kentville. Over the span of 50 or more years, Joan was a church organist and choir director of numerous Valley churches and also played the piano for worship services with residents of nursing and retirement homes. Joan and her husband, Frank, volunteered with Meals on Wheels. She was a pastoral visitor on behalf of her church to local nursing homes and hospitals. She supported the social events and fundraising efforts of her church. Her hobbies included baking, reading, knitting, sewing, tole painting, chair wickering, card making, yoga and walking. A celebration of life, followed by a reception, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 11, 2019 in the Kentville United Baptist Church, 503 Main Street, Kentville, Reverend Devin Johnstone officiating. A private family burial will take place in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Kentville.
