ROGERS (Tracey), Bertha Marion — Of the Windsor Elms, Falmouth, formerly of Lockhartville, Kings Co., passed away at the age of 94 on Tues­day, November 27, 2012. Born in Lock­hartville on October 12, 1918, she was a daughter of the late Edward \'Elisha\' Tracey and Osa (Davidson). She was predeceased by her husband, Manford; her son, John; her daughter-in-law, Monique. Bertha was the last surviving member of her fam­ily, being predeceased by sisters and brothers, Evelyn Schofield, Bessie Schofield, Leora Vaughan, Jessie Schofield, Minnie Schofield, Mary Schofield, Hilda Keddy, Leroy, Arden and Aubrey and also Robert in in­fancy. Bertha took great pride in homemaking and was an excellent baker, quilt-maker and did lovely em­broidery. She was very involved in the local community and Lockhartville United Baptist Church. She was a member of the Lockhartville Sewing Circle, the Thimble Six Quilters, the Women’s Institute and the Minas Waves Seniors Group, with whom she travelled and participated in many events. She visited several areas, in­cluding Nashville, Costa Rica, Illinois, Magdalen Islands, Labrador, and many places in Western Canada. The family thanks the wonderful staff at Windsor Elms for their compassionate care over the last several years, along with the chaplaincy, Debra Mosher, and the Rev. Gail Whalen-Dunn of Stoney Hill United Baptist Church, Lockhartville. Interment will be in Riverbank Cemetery, Hantsport. Born April 17, 1934 in Wolfville, she was a daughter of the late Leora (Tracey) and James Vaughan. Besides her parents, Shirley was predeceased by her son, Richard Vaughan; sisters, Gwen Crane, Christine Boudreau and infant sister, Sylvia; brothers, Arthur, Leo and Clyde. Shirley grew up in a large family who loved to gather for music and laughter. She always made sure there was always room for one more at the dinner table. Born in Lockhartville, he was a son of the late James and Leora (Tracey) Vaughan. He worked for Irving Oil Limited as a burner technician for 35 years, retir­ing in 1997. He was a loving son, broth­er, husband, uncle and a friend to all. He was an active member of St. James Anglican Church, Kentville, serving for many years with the Anglican Cur­sillo Movement and Alpha Program. Clyde enjoyed playing his guitar and brought joy by playing with a group of Christian friends at the VON Adult Day Care and Grand View Manor, Ber­wick. He had a hobby collecting postcards. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Mabel Nauss; sisters, Christina Boudreau, Gwen Crane and infant sister, Sylvia; brother, Arthur. SCHOFIELD, Helen Orena
Age 82 years of Windsor, passed away peacefully on May 25th, 2013, in Hants Community Hospital. Born in Windsor Forks on February 9th, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Aubrey and Evelyn (Tracey) Schofield. Helen worked for many years as a seamstress at the Windsor Textile Mill and loved to knit and sew. She hand­made many hats and pairs of socks for her family and friends. She loved to play cards and spend time with her special friends and close family. Prede­ceased by her parents, Aubrey and Evelyn; brothers, Doug, Harley, Earl and Ervin; sister, Myrna Weston; broth­ers- in-law, Raymond and Wilbert and sister-in-law, Pauline. In keeping with Helen’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be held in Riverbank Cemetery in Hantsport on Friday, May 31st at 2 p.m. with Pas­tor Craig Faulkner officiating.

Burt Alonzo Schofield, passed away peacefully early on Saturday, February 6, 2021. Born in Windsor Forks on June 12, 1936, he was the son of the late Aubrey and Evelyn (Tracey) Schofield.

Burt was a carpenter by trade and by hobby. He was also an avid yard sale and flea market attendee with a collection that is both eclectic and extensive. He was a devoted gardener with a very green thumb and loved to share the bounty of his gardens and fruit trees with family and friends. In years past, he enjoyed hunting, four wheeling and going to his camp. His love of hunting may have led to his collection of deer antlers, that has been admired by so many.

He was predeceased by his wife, Pauline (Rolfe); brothers Harley, Douglas, Carl, Earl, Ervin and Milton; sisters Myrna, Madeline and Helen.

The family would like to thank the staff of Unit 500 at the Hants Community Hospital for their care and kindness over the past few months.

A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, February 12, 2021 at 2:00 pm at the Vaughans Community Cemetery followed by a reception at the SouthWest Hants Fire Hall in Vaughans.

Vivian Rowena Shaw
Of Windsor Forks, passed away peacefully in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at the age of 81. Born on September 9, 1940, she was a daughter of the late Aubrey and Evelyn (Tracey) Schofield.

Vivian was a hard worker, from picking corn in the fields with her best friend, Juanita, to milking cows when she was eight months pregnant, to looking after her kids and grandkids. She and David enjoyed traveling with family and friends all over the Atlantic Provinces.

Besides her parents, Vivian was predeceased by her husband, David; a son in infancy; grandson, Patrick Shaw and all of her siblings.

Hilda Hariett Murphy
Age 78, of Cheverie, died peacefully, with her family by her side, in Haliburton Place, Hants Community Hospital, Windsor on Tuesday, September 7, 2021. Born in Avonport, January 7, 1943, she was a loving daughter of the late Harry Elias and Jessie Mildred (Tracey) Schofield.

Mom was the most caring, loving woman you’d ever want to meet. She was at ease striking up a conversation with a total stranger. She loved life, people, music, her annual August Potluck on her deck for friends and family, shopping, selling her cushions and most of all, her kids. Never once did she ever hang up the phone or walk out the door without kissing us and telling us she loved us. Mention road trip or restaurant and she was the first one in the car, especially loving her many trips to the states with Carter and Valerie. Always coming back with a new purse and watch, no matter how many times she was there. Having had many health problems from the day she was born, she never let it get in her way. She had two children to raise on her own and money had to be earned.

Besides her loving parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Ralph Vaughan; sister, Blanche Schofield; brothers, Arnold, Merton and Clint; brothers-in-law, Ross Keeling and Sonny Swinamer and sister-in-law, Yvonne Schofield.

Due to current COVID restrictions, there will be a public graveside service held on Saturday, September 11 at 2:00 p.m. in Cheverie United Church Cemetery, 2093 New Cheverie Rd., Rev. Jeff Bursey officiating, assisted by Lois Brison-Brown.

Roscoe Albert SCHOFIELD — Falmouth

Age 78 of Falmouth, passed away peacefully January 2nd, with family at his side. Born in Avonport, he was a son of the late Harry and Jessie (Tracey) Schofield. Besides his parents, Roscoe is predeceased by his sisters, Blanche, Hilda and Nancy; his brothers, Arnold, Merton and Clinton. Roscoe was a member of the Windsor Fire Department for 20 years retiring as Captain. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch # 009 for 26 years, serving as past President, executive member, as well as an integral member of many other committees. Among the many service awards he received over the years, he was recognized by the Canadian Red Cross for having donated blood well over 100 times. Roscoe was an avid hunter, fisherman and general outdoorsman and his favorite pastime was his many trips to Cape Breton, moose hunting with his buddies, staying in his hand-crafted hunting camp. In addition to the homes and apartment buildings he constructed throughout Windsor, Falmouth and the Halifax area, Roscoe was well known for his special projects. He took extra pride in his custom designs which included building a 30-foot pirate ship, a boxing ring, toys for his grandchildren and his most popular project, a replica of the Windmill Canteen in Falmouth. You could drive around Nova Scotia and recognize his custom-built screen doors and lawn furniture. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2024, from 1-3 p.m. in Royal Canadian Legion, 35 Empire Ln., Windsor.

Age 62, of Windsor, passed away Monday, April 10, 2017 at home. Born in Wolfville, he was the son of Shirley (Vaughan) Skipper, Windsor Elms Village, Falmouth.

Rick was a former member of the Windsor Fire Department and was a former member of Hants County Branch No. 009, Windsor and current member of Calais Branch No. 162, Lower Sackville of the Royal Canadian Legion. He loved hunting, singing, dancing, his cat \"Charlie\" and his old car, his 1984 Camaro. Rick especially loved playing with his grandchildren, even when they would paint his nails. He will be sadly missed by all.

MACK, Karen Anne — 54 years, Wa­seca, Sask., passed away peacefully Sunday, April 10, 2011, in Lloydmin­ster Hospital surrounded by her lov­ing family and best friend Doris Frost. Karen lived her life not worrying about the hard­ships that came along but focused on the lives we touch along the way. Born in Wind­sor, on September 29, 1956, she lived the majority of life in Hantsport, touching people’s lives not only with her beautiful voice but with her loving ways where ever she was. She was em­ployed as a waitress starting out at R&G’s in Hantsport where she was known for her hugs and red lipstick kisses and songs for special occasions. She spent the last 11 years in Sas­katchewan continuing to work as a waitress touching many lives. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Shirley Marie Pinch – age 72, of Berwick, formerly West Brooklyn, passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2022, in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville.

Born in Windsor, she was a daughter of the late Wilbert and Myrna (Schofield) Whiston.

Shirley attended Central Kings in Cambridge. She married her best friend, Kenneth in 1970 and had been employed at Canada Foods and Stirling’s while raising their two beautiful children. Shirley loved talking with her mother-in-law, Leota, listening to her stories and jokes. She enjoyed dancing, music, especially old-time rock and roll, and annual family gatherings. She was a longtime member of the West Brooklyn Baptist Church and more recently, of the Berwick Baptist Church. Shirley attended many church functions and plays. She loved tending to her flower garden, decorating her front yard for children and celebrating the Lord’s birth. She would want to be remembered for her sense of humour and love she had for her family and many friends. Family meant everything to Shirley, especially her grandbabies. She will be deeply missed.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by daughter, Karen Anne, in infancy; sister, Evelyn Dunham and brother, Robert.

A graveside service will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 30, 2022 in the West Brooklyn Cemetery, Reverend Evan Colford officiating. A reception will follow in the West Brooklyn Community Hall.
