WALSH, William Joseph \'Bill\'

Passed away peacefully Friday evening, May 17, 2019 in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Son of the late Ada (Smith) and Lawson Walsh, Bill was born in Hampstead, Long Island, N.Y., June 28, 1928. He was raised in Hantsport helping his father move houses using teams of horses. In 1947 he became a member of the Army Reserve Recce Squadron before joining the RCAF in 1949. Working as a Flight Engineer and Aero Engine Tech on Lancasters, Dakotas, Neptunes, Argus and many others, he crisscrossed the country for the next 21 years. Upon retirement from the Air Force in 1970 he first went into real estate and then industrial sales becoming the East coast sales manager for an international company. Over the years he enjoyed a varied and fun life: ball player, hockey player, Cub Scout leader, square dancer/caller/instructor, golfer, fisherman, bluegrass fan and festival goer, frequent winter traveler to Florida, musician, and since having wifi installed, a devoted Freecell player. He enjoyed getting out to play with his harmonica-playing friends at local venues and playing the various nursing homes every Tuesday night with a local country band. Bill was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Beatrice (Flynn) in 2014 and son, Daniel in infancy in 1957; and brothers, John, Paul and Richard. He is well-remembered as a nice man and will be missed by all who knew him. Thank you to all the staff in the 200 Unit of Hants Community Hospital and all the Emergency Room staff for your kindness. Cremation has taken place and a private graveside service will be held 1 p.m., Tuesday, May 28th in Centre Falmouth Cemetery, Falmouth.
