    GUPTILL, Morris Leslie — 75, for­merly of Avonport, Kings Co., passed away Sunday, July 17, 2011, in Or­chard Court, Shannex, Kentville, fol­lowing a lengthy illness. Born in Avon­port on April 1, 1936, he was a son of the late Roy and Jessie (Kelly) Guptill. Private Guptill was with the 1st Battalion of the Royal Cana­dian Regiment. He was chosen to par­ticipate in a spe­cial guard of hon­our to greet Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, the Colonel-in-Chief. Morris was stationed in several coun­tries of the world while in the army for 22 years. Morris took great joy in his carpentry work and could be seen driving over the countryside on his tractor. He played the guitar and had a great singing voice. He was predeceased by brothers, Albert, Vernon, Eldon and Stewart. There will be no visita­tion, by request. A private family cele­bration of the life of Morris will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 20, in West Brooklyn Cemetery, Kings Coun­ty, Rev. Gary Manthorne officiating.
