GUPTILL, Morris Leslie — 75, formerly of Avonport, Kings Co., passed away Sunday, July 17, 2011, in Orchard Court, Shannex, Kentville, following a lengthy illness. Born in Avonport on April 1, 1936, he was a son of the late Roy and Jessie (Kelly) Guptill. Private Guptill was with the 1st Battalion of the Royal Canadian Regiment. He was chosen to participate in a special guard of honour to greet Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, the Colonel-in-Chief. Morris was stationed in several countries of the world while in the army for 22 years. Morris took great joy in his carpentry work and could be seen driving over the countryside on his tractor. He played the guitar and had a great singing voice. He was predeceased by brothers, Albert, Vernon, Eldon and Stewart. There will be no visitation, by request. A private family celebration of the life of Morris will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 20, in West Brooklyn Cemetery, Kings County, Rev. Gary Manthorne officiating.
