SMITH, Eric W.
Age 86, of Hantsport, passed away peacefully, Sunday, December 13, 2015, in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Eric was a son of the late William G. and Eva C. (Eye) Smith (Hantsport); brother of the late Walter G. and Fred Smith and Margaret Hazelton. He was very active in his church and community and very knowledgeable in Hantsport history and its people. Eric enjoyed antique cars and was an avid fan of Chryslers. He served as Past Master (twice) and Secretary of Poyntz Lodge No. 44 in Hantsport; a member of The Shore Lodge No. 134; served as Past District Chaplain of Hants County District and Past High Priest of the Hiram Chapter of Royal Arch Masons in Windsor. A memorial service celebrating Eric's life will be held 2 p.m., Friday, December 18 in St. Andrew's Anglican Church, 59 Main St., Hantsport, Father Tom Henderson officiating. A reception will follow in the church hall. In lieu of flowers,donations in Eric's memory may be made to St. Andrew's Anglican Church.

HEBB, Karleen Ruth

Age 88 of Hantsport, passed away peacefully Friday, August 17, 2018 in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Born in Hants Border on March 12, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Walter Gordon and Elta May (Starratt) Smith. Karleen was a school teacher for seven years in Hants and Kings Counties and then became a homemaker to raise her large family. She was a lifelong member of Avon (St. James) United Church and taught Sunday school for many years. In her spare time she enjoyed quilting. Karleen was predeceased by her first husband, Paul Weston Eldridge, and second husband, Melvin Everett Hebb; brother, Lamont Smith. A graveside service celebrating Karleen’s life will be held 2 p.m., Thursday, August 23rd in Riverbank Cemetery, Hantsport, Rev. David Hann officiating.

Laurie Graham Smith
It is with great sadness that the family of Laurie announce his peaceful passing, at age 90, on March 13, 2022, in Dykeland Lodge, Windsor. He was born April 7, 1931, in Hants Border, a son of the late Walter and Elta (Starratt) Smith. Dad was a man of few words, with a great sense of humour and a twinkle in his blue eyes. Laurie spent his early years working on the family farm. In the early 1950s he headed west, stopping in the Ottawa Valley to work in the bush and at the sawmill, and to do some farming. He then moved further west on the Harvest Excursion to experience farming in the Prairies. On his return home, he once again stopped in Ontario to drive a taxi. It was then that he picked up the best passenger ever - Betty, his wife of 67 years. They married and moved back to Nova Scotia to raise their family. Laurie truly enjoyed many years of driving trucks, before switching gears and selling his truck to drive a school bus. However, he continued to love “talking truck” with all who would listen, so pleased that many of his sons and sons in law followed in his footsteps. Even as his memory began to fade, Dad often spoke to Mom about needing to move his trailer. Laurie’s other great hobby was showing draft horses. Originally a Belgian man, he eventually changed over to Percherons and never looked back. Laurie’s was a familiar face at many area agricultural exhibitions over the years, and he made many great friends along the way. Laurie was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, uncle, and friend, and will certainly be missed. He was always very proud of his family, and a grin would show on his face at their antics. We have all added many of his famous phrases to our vocabulary, such as “that’s why we can’t have nice things” and “go tell your mother she wants you.” For a quiet man, he gave us many classics which will last for generations to come. Laurie was predeceased by his parents, his brother Lamont (Buster), and his sister Karleen, and his grandson Chadwick Smith. Donations in memory may be made to Dykeland Lodge, Windsor, or a charity of one’s choice. The family would like to extend a sincere Thank You to the entire staff at Dykeland Lodge. Burial will be held at a later date in Riverbank Cemetery, Hantsport.

SMITH, Keith Kinsman

Age 79 of Hantsport. With great sadness, I announce the passing of my dear husband, Keith on January 22, 2020, in Hants Regional Hospital, after a long battle with cancer, heart disease and kidney failure. He was born in Windsor, a son of the late Fred and Mary (Millett) Smith (of Hantsport). He grew up in Woodside, loved people dearly and loved to talk and joke. Keith was a trucker most of his life, owning his own company (No Choice Co. Ltd.) He found great pleasure in gardening. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by daughter, Kelly; sister, Patricia; and his dearly loved dog, Rambo.

Robert Frederick Hazelton

Age 68, of Hantsport passed away peacefully on Friday, April 21, 2023 in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. He was born on May 24, 1954 in Wolfville, Nova Scotia to the late George and Margaret (Smith) Hazelton.

Robert began his career as a mechanic at several local garages before becoming a printer operator at CKF Inc. He enjoyed antique and classic cars and travelling throughout the Atlantic provinces, mingling with fellow car enthusiasts and sharing stories. He could often be found at home working on projects in the garage or relaxing outdoors.
