Marie was an active mem­ber of Hantsport Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday school teach­er. She served as secretary of the Kings Daughter, a fundraising organi­zation within the church and secreta­ry for the Women’s Missionary Socie­ty for 15 years. She was in the Hand Bell Choir at Dykeland Lodge. Marie enjoyed knitting, gardening and read­ing. Marie enjoyed her neighbours and making treats for them. Be­sides her parents, Marie was prede­ceased by brothers, Sonny and Howie.

    Age 67, of Hantsport, passed away peacefully Sunday, November 13, 2016, with her family by her side, in the Windsor Elms Village, Falmouth. Born on January 27, 1949 in Wolfville, she was a daughter of the late Benny Kyle and Louise Marie (Barkhouse) Pearson.

    Shirley enjoyed darts, dances, 45\'s, crib tournaments, watching ball games and her favourite hockey team, Montreal Canadiens and watching her boys play numerous sports whether on a field, the ice or a court. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Shirley worked at Steadmans, Zellers, Uncle John\'s and her best friend Sue\'s restaurant. She also volunteered for numerous organizations.

    Shirley was a dedicated and loving wife, mother and grandmother. Besides her parents, Shirley was predeceased by her husband of 43 years, Darrell; in-laws, Ray and Irene Johnston.
