    Hantsport postmaster Gilbert ‘Gib’ Veino was selected to represent all Hants County volunteers at the annual Provincial Volunteer Awards Ceremony.

    Veino was involved in multiple organizations and causes. He coached minor baseball, basketball and hockey teams; he was a Scout master for 12 years and a member of the Hantsport Municipal Recreation Commission for almost 20 years. Additionally, he served on the board of directors for the Hantsport Memorial Community Centre, served 21 years with the Hantsport Fire Department (where he was secretary for 18 years), served three years on town council and on the Hantsport School Board, plus two years on the Hants Vocational School Board and EMO. He spent 10 years as the chairman of the March of Dimes campaign in Hantsport, and donated time to his church, St. Andrews Anglican in Hantsport, as well. He was a member of its choir for 25 years.
