    Died peacefully in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor, October 2, 2016. Born July 27, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Percy and Eva Higgins (Stellarton), and the last surviving member of her immediate family. After receiving her early education in Stellarton schools, she went on to serve with the RCAF during the Second World War, and was stationed in Ottawa, Ont. Following her return to Nova Scotia she married Marshall Fraser, raised four children while enjoying knitting, baking, crossword puzzles and reading. She had a very keen mind, and could carry on a conversation on just about any subject. Gladys was a long-standing member of the United Church of Canada and taught Sunday school for many years and also served as Treasurer of the former St. James United Church, Hantsport. She was predeceased by her husband, Marshall (1999); brothers, Dexter and William (Carrie) Higgins; sister, Gwen (Garnet) Moore; sons-in-law, Whit Whytewood and Robert Brunette. Interment will take place Friday, October 7, at 11 a.m. in Church Brook Cemetery, Little Harbour, Pictou Co.

    FRASER, Kevin John Percy \'Joey\'

    1953 - 2018, passed away in Westville on Saturday, July 14, 2018. Kevin was born in New Glasgow on May 25, 1953 and from the age of 14 was raised in Hantsport. He was a proud graduate of Acadia University where he first met his loving wife Anne. Kevin was the son of the late Marshall and Gladys (Higgins) Fraser. He was predeceased by his brothers-in-law, Whit Whytewood, Robert Brunette; and his father-in-law, David Armstrong. Kevin was employed with Sodexo, where he spent the last 15 years at Saint Francis Xavier University as the General Manager of Food Services. Kevin was also a well-respected basketball referee who officiated every level from minor to international games. Kevin was the consummate people person. Known for his quick wit, booming laugh and knee-slapping, you always knew when he was in the room. He was happiest with Anne and Allie, walking the beach or sitting at the cottage surrounded by friends, family, and the dogs. There will be a celebration of life for Kevin on Friday, July 20th at 2 p.m. in First Presbyterian Church, 242 South Foord St., Stellarton, with Rev. Charles MacPherson officiating.
