    WALSH, Ronald Edward

    Age 94 of Lockhartville and Camp Hill Veterans’ Memorial Building, QEII, where he passed away on Tuesday, November 27, 2018. Born in Avonport on October 25, 1924, he was a son of the late Seymour Douglas and Clara Belle (King) Walsh. Ron proudly served during the Second World War with the North Nova Scotia Highlanders, seeing front-line action with Company A throughout France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. Ron worked at Minas Basin Pulp and Paper for over 25 years and then he pursued carpentry until retirement. He believed in a hard day’s work and took much pride in the home he built, especially his gardens and lawns. He stayed a kid at heart and enjoyed nothing more than joking around with his grandchildren. Ron was predeceased by his wife of 70 years, Greta (Smith); brothers, William, Charles, Henry, Victor and twin, Donald; sisters, Jean Starratt, Madeline Colby, Hilda Sherman, Alice Walsh and Iris Whitman. A very special thank you is extended to the staff at Camp Hill, especially those on 4th floor Westwood Wing, for their excellent care and support shown to dad. A graveside funeral service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ronald may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or Lockhartville (Stoney Hill) Baptist Church, Lockhartville.

    SIMPSON WAMBACK (Walsh), Erma Blanche

    Age 97 of Hantsport. It is with great sadness that the family of Erma Blanche (Walsh) Simpson Wamback announce her peaceful passing on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 in Hants Community Hospital in Windsor. Born in Avonport, she was a daughter of the late Seymour and Clara Belle (King) Walsh. Erma was a lifelong member of Hantsport Baptist Church where she served as the first female deacon. Her devotion to her Lord was evident in all that she did. Her love of family, friends and community were important to her, and she will be missed by so many whose lives she touched. Active in several groups and organizations throughout her life, Erma remained interested and involved right up until her recent illness. She was a dedicated member of the Kings Daughters, Women’s Missionary Society, Eastern Star, Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary, and Red Hatters, just to name a few. Erma was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Erma was predeceased by her second husband, Clayton Wamback, and first husband, Austin Simpson; son, Commander John B. Simpson; and daughter-in-law, Nancy; brothers, Ronald, Donald, William, Charles, Henry and Victor; sisters, Jean Starratt, Madeline Colby, Hilda Sherman, Alice Walsh and Iris Whitman; and granddaughter, Heather Bishop. Erma’s family would like to express their deep appreciation and thanks to the professional and compassionate staff of Hants Community Hospital. A service celebrating Erma’s life will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, November 23rd in Hantsport Baptist Church, 6 Willow St., Hantsport, Rev. Jennifer Riley officiating. Family interment will follow in Riverbank Cemetery, Hantsport. A reception will be held in Hantsport Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.

    Age 80, of Salmon Arm, B.C., passed away April 12, 2021. Born March 13, 1941 in Windsor, he was a son of the late Henry and Reta Walsh. His childhood was spent in Avonport and he continued to live there after marrying Joyce Patterson and starting a family. The family soon moved to British Columbia where Gerald worked at a whaling station on Vancouver Island for several years before moving to Salmon Arm. There he worked at a saw mill and then fulfilled his dream of owning a Christmas tree farm. He operated the farm for many years shipping trees all over Canada and the United States.

She was a loyal wife, loving sister and a true friend to all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was the daughter of the late Donald and Minnie (Dalrymple) Walsh. Mary was well­known in the community as she spent 42 years owning and operating her own business as a hairdresser. Her greatest joy was her dogs, \'Cricket\' and \'Buddy\'; and her cat, \'Casey\'. She was a true animal lover and many ani­mals benefited from her monthly do­nations to the SPCA. A small gra­veside service for family and friends will be held in Riverbank Cemetery, Hantsport in the spring.

    Andrew attended Land Mark East and after graduation, he gained employment with Quinns Flooring before he branched out on his own, creating Smith Flooring.

    He was an active man who enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with family and his beloved Marlene. He also enjoyed the time spent just hanging out with the shore boys and going on ski-doo trips. As well, he appreciated every chance he could take his ‘68 Chevelle out on the open road.

    A Celebration of Andrew’s Life will be held at a later date. Family Flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Hants SnoDusters Snowmobile Club.
