    WILCOX, Gerald Vance 'Jerry' — 90, Hantsport, passed away suddenly Monday, July 18, 2011, in Hants Com­munity Hospital. Born March 26, 1921, in Pembroke, he was a son of the late Emery and Elsie (Lantz) Wilcox. Jerry served in the Royal Canadian Air Force in the Second World War as a Dispatch Rider with service overseas during and after the Invasion. In post war years, he operated the Irving Ga­rage in Hantsport and later was a Bur­ner Mechanic for Irving Oil. Jerry was an active member both in St. James United Church and the commu­nity and was the recipient in 1995 of the Provincial Volunteer Service Award for the Town of Hantsport. He was a member of Poyntz Lodge No. 44, A.F & A.M, Hantsport, serving as Wor­shipful Master twice, and as a District Deputy Grand Master, and had re­ceived his 50-Year Jewel. He was a past president and life member of Royal Canadian Legion Lucknow Branch No. 109, Hantsport. He along with his wife, 'Wheet', were avid campers and volunteers in the Camp­ground Host Program in Michigan, British Columbia and since 1996 in No­va Scotia. He loved his large family and welcomed many others into his family circle. Besides his parents, Jerry was predeceased by sister, Lorna Ritchie and brothers, Avard, Stanley and Willard. There will be a Masonic Ser­vice followed by a Legion Service starting at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Au­gust 3, in Serenity Lindsay Funeral Home, Wolfville. A celebration of Jer­ry’s life, followed by a reception, will be held in St. James United Church Hantsport, on August 4th at 2 p.m., with Rev. Heather McDougall officiat­ing. Interment will be in Riverbank Cemetery. Family flowers only. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jerry’s memo­ry can be made to St. James United Church, Hants Community Hospital or to a charity of choice.

    RITCHIE, Lorna Jean - 80, North Head, Grand Manan, N.B., passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 1, 2005. Born in Pembroke, she was a daughter of the late Emery and Elsie Wilcox (Pembroke). She was predeceased by her husband, Doctor Railton G. Ritchie, as well as brothers, Avard, Willard and Stanley. Mrs. Ritchie was a Registered Nurse and worked in the Pugwash Hospital; Children's Hospital, Halifax; The Infirmary, Halifax; The Red Cross Blood Clinic, Halifax, and then moving to Grand Manan to work in the Grand Manan Hospital. She was a member of the Church of the Ascension, The Ladies Guild Church of the Ascension, served as Treasurer for several years both for the Guild and also the Sunday school, a member of the Grand Manan Seniors Club, the Grand Manan Curling Club and the New Brunswick Nurses Association. The family will receive friends and relatives in the Church of the Ascension, North Head, N.B. today from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. from where the funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 4, at 1:30 p.m. with Bishop George Lemon officiating, assisted by Lic. Kevin Frankland and Lic. Freda Large. Following the service she will be cremated and her ashes will be interred in North Head Community Cemetery with a private family committal service. The family has asked for donations to the Church of the Ascension Memorial or Building Fund.
