    Died:
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Myrna Idella Campbell in Evergreen Home for Special Care, Kentville, on January 23, 2023. Born on October 14, 1935 in Middleton, to the late Thelma and Arthur Banks, she was the eldest of seven children. Myrna spent her first years in Inglisville before moving to Hantsport at the age of eight. She graduated from Hantsport High School and then finished Grade 12 at the old Windsor Academy, hitchhiking from Hantsport to Windsor every day with her good friend Sally. After Grade 12 Myrna ventured to Halifax for a career in nursing and graduated from the Victoria General Hospital, a proud graduate of the class of ‘57B. Myrna lived in “the alley” in the VG residence making lifelong friendships while there and she told the best stories about being a nursing student. Myrna worked at the Victoria General and reached the position of Head Nurse after working a year in Calgary. It was when she returned to Halifax, in 1960, that she met a handsome young engineer on a blind date. As they liked to reminisce, Mom wore a yellow dress and Dad wore a pinstriped suit on that date. After marrying in 1963 Frank’s career took them to Moncton, Montreal, Toronto and Winnipeg before retiring to Wolfville. Myrna loved her trips to Florida with Frank and combing the beach of Marco Island for shells. She loved to cook, bake and tend her vegetable garden. But most of all, she loved her family unconditionally. Myrna was an avid CBC listener during the Peter Gzowski, Stuart McLean and Anna Maria Tremonti years. In her 50’s, while living in Winnipeg, she took up cross country skiing and returned to work in the shoe department at Sears in Polo Park. As she tells it, this was the best job ever. She was predeceased by brother, Ronald; and sisters, Maxine and Doreen.

    Died:
Our precious, Freda “Maxine” MacClure (nee Banks) - 79, of Lake Land Retreat- passed away peacefully on October 30, 2021.

We have learned incredible life lessons from Maxine about love, strength and determination. Maxine loved totally and fully and once she gave you her heart, she loved you forever. Every phone call or visit ended with "I love you". The love for her husband Robert and her children was in her eyes until the end. Maxine had strength beyond measure that would bolster those around her and bring peace to others. Even when the end was near she was at ease and had no fears of what was to come next. Her determination was immeasurable and a true testament to her family and faith, faith that was important to her throughout her life. Her absence will leave a void for those she has left behind but she will continue to live on in the memories and hearts of those that loved her the most.

Maxine is predeceased by her parents Arthur and Thelma (Hatfield) Banks, her brother Ronald and sister Doreen (Banks) Fraser.

Maxine was never one to be the centre of attention, so in that fashion her service will be private. Friends wishing to honour Maxine are invited to make a donation to; Greenfield United Baptist Church, Valley Hospice or charity of your choice.
