    Notes:

    Died:
It is with profound sadness that we announce that our family matriarch, Kris, passed away quietly on June 12, 2021, and has finally made the journey to be with her God. Born in Finland on April 24, 1924, Kris was orphaned from her parents Krarti and Onto Laine in 1939, and emigrated to Canada that same year. In 1943, she enrolled in the Canadian Womens Army Corps and served as a chef for the Officer Corps in various units in southern Ontario until the end of the war, when she was discharged at the rank of Sergeant. After leaving the Army, Kris eventually made her home in the East Kootenay mountains of British Columbia (Invermere) until she moved to Hantsport with her husband Roy in 2008. Kris was a Life Member of the Order of the Eastern Star and long-time member of the Daughters of the Nile. Within her 50 years plus in the OES, Kris held virtually every officer station including Worthy Matron many times over. In her waning years in OES she served as Chaplain in various Chapters in British Columbia and Nova Scotia. She was also appointed as Grand Representative for the State of Nevada in British Columbia. Kris was an avid gardener, a fantastic chef and above all, an animal lover; both domestic and wild. She was particularly fond of her pet cats, but could also be seen feeding strays, birds, deer and any other animal that found their way into her yard. She was proud to regale us with the story about the time as a young girl, she fed a cougar blueberries from the palm of her hand. Kris was predeceased by her first two husbands, Sid Scamon, and Don Anderson (both of British Columbia). Kris will also be sadly missed by her many new friends in and around Hantsport. Our family wishes to thank the staff of Ivy Meadows Long Term Facility in Beaver Bank for their excellent care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, our Mom would be pleased if donations were made to an Animal Shelter of your choice.
