- Mrs. Minetta Veinot, widow of Hibbert B. Veinot, passed away at the Fishermen's Memorial Hospital on Thursday, December 28th at the age of 87. In uncertain health, the end came unexpectedly. Mrs. Veinot was known as Gramma Hibble by many. She had a retiring nature but was always ready to lend a helping hand to those who needed her. Her quiet, dignity was a constant inspiration to family and friends. Mrs. Veinot usually spent the winter months with her son James, Mahone Bay but this year she was with her daughter Ida (Mrs. Harold Langille) at Northwest. She was one of the oldest members of St. James Church and attended church until October; she was very devoted to her family, church and a faithful member of the Women's Institute, Blockhouse. Surviving are four daughters, Edith (Mrs. Charles F. Joudrey), Bridgewater; Gertrude (Mrs. Fred Begin) Mahone Bay; Ida (Mrs. Harold Langille) Northwest; Pauline, on the Teaching Staff, Lunenburg Academy; four sons, Robert, Hantsport; Harry, Blockhouse; James, Mahone Bay; John, Somerville, Mass.; 27 grandchildren; 47 great grandchildren; 9 great, great grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews. A son George and infant Stephen predeceased her; on sister Flo (Mrs. Eben Mader, Cambridge, Mass. Funeral service was held at St. James Anglican Church, Mahone Bay on Sunday, December 31st at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Harry Corbin officiating, preceded by family prayers at Freeman's Funeral Home.
